I will never understand how so many of y'all were hoodwinked into believing the government should not use the money YOU PAY IN TAXES to create a social safety net that benefits YOU.
Texas teachers worked 187 days last year for an average salary of about $55,000. Members of the House of Representatives worked about 87 days last year for $174,000, and Mike Johnson has the audacity to complain about it??
Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.
Someone said “Baby Boomers did that thing where you leave a single square of toilet paper on the roll and pretend it’s not your turn to change it, but with a whole society” and now I can’t stop thinking about it.
You take the ivermectin, mix it with some hydroxychloroquine, dilute it in raw milk, then shoot it straight up the butthole.
You got nothing to worry about, bro
I just want to point out....
The amount of money the United States has spent on war in the last 67 days, is roughly the same cost that Bernie Sanders proposed for universal college. So the real question is never can we afford it, it's what we choose to prioritize.
The simple truth is that anyone with anything close to that level of empathy simply wouldn't be able to reach anything close to bezos levels of wealthy, because that amount of money requires unbelievable amounts of human exploitation
I don't get greed. If I had Bezos cash, I'd be fixing a problem every week. Homelessness? Not on my watch. Hungry kids in school? No way. Animal shelters full? I'll build 10,000 more.
Religious people will describe heaven as a classless, stateless, moneyless society with no private property, no suffering, and everyone’s needs met, then turn around and call communism evil. It will never stop being funny.
My apartment in 2005 was $550 a month. With inflation, it should now be $930. I just looked it up, and It's currently $1700 a month. It's greed killing these kids, not avacado toast and Starbucks.
