Spurs fans, donāt let the painful nature of HOW they lost let you think that this wasnāt a wildly successful season. We have never seen a team with its 3 best players 22 & under get this far before and lead the NBA finals for 72% of it. Maybe Iām naive, but I have never been more confident that rings are coming soon.
Iāll go as far to say that this result will be more beneficial to the group long term than a championship this year. It will harden and fuel them to the level needed to get over the top instead of celebrating a win all summer. Spurs fans should know better than anyone the triumph that painful losses can bring.
I donāt want Fox traded, i donāt want Mitch gone. Itās not the spurs way. People wanted Pop fired and Manu to retire in 2013. Everyone said the spurs should blow it up in 2011. Instead, they stuck together for an amazing result.
I donāt want foundational changes to a young team that were a few plays away from a ring.
In 10 years, I bet we will look back on this loss as the stepping stone to a dynastic run. GSG
