Noah Droddy (@IBuiltTheArk) was that rare athlete who had the viral moment first; the performances later. Really one of the most affable people in running. Great career runnersworld.com/runners-sto…
Happy trails to 2:09 marathoner Noah Droddy (@IBuiltTheArk) who announced his retirement from competitive running!
On Instagram, he wrote: "This running life has led me to so many beautiful, challenging, and unexpected places. I expect it will continue to do so, just in different ways now. I’ll still be running, I’ll still be around running. But I’m more excited to be there for other people now, and see what challenges become interesting to me along the way"
We've been lucky to have Noah as part of the CITIUS MAG family when @D3GloryDays was part of our podcast network. I'm sure he will continue to serve as an inspiration that many Division III athletes admire and chase as an example. Here's to more glory days!
🚨D3 Indoor Nationals Preview🚨
The D3 Glory Days team once again set out to do something no one else will, preview every. single. event.
Putting this altogether, one thing stood out: this is going to be amazing weekend.

🗣️ “I think the thing that characterizes DII, DIII and NAIA athletes is that they're super passionate about running in a way that differs from DI athletes. They love it and that’s why they’re going to the smaller schools out of high school – because they want that opportunity to keep running.” – @TheRealMerb

A quick chat w/ @IBuiltTheArk on the NCAA Division I & Division III cross country experiences ⤵️
When technology make it so World Records no longer make sense in a historical context, maybe it's time to just focus on the racing. Like cycling. What if we moved away from standardized distances, and record attempts were relegated to project style attempts (like sub 2 proj)?
Don't think it will ever happen in a mass participation sport, where there's relatively low interest in the professional side of racing, but interesting to think about.
Worth adding that there are some awesome, large, off-distance races, like Falmouth and Bix, that are big locally, but not something your average running fan is following closely.
All pro athletes competing at an international level should have health insurance covered by the governing bodies of the sport. So sad to hear stuff like this happen. Athletes left to figure it out themselves after putting bodies on the line to represent sponsor / country.
High jumper Laura Zialor ruptured her Achilles mid-competition while representing Britain last week.
She's now had to crowdfund for surgery because British Athletics said they won't pay for it. Story for @BBCSport.

I'm thankful to make a living in the sport, and to feel provided for by great sponsors, but my best advice to aspiring pros, who aren't 'influencers', is to find a flexible job with benefits. Good shoe deals based only on performance are... limited.
