On 31 May-2 June, ICDP held its XXI Annual Meeting of Commissioners and it’s General Assembly in Madrid at Spain’s Foreign Ministry. Decisions were made on ICDP’s strategies, activities shaping our work to strengthen our commitment to the global fight against the death penalty.

Iran continues its execution spree.
At dawn on May 4, 2026, three political prisoners arrested during the 2025 nationwide protests; Mehdi Rasouli (25), Mohammadreza Miri (21), and Ebrahim Dowlatabadi were executed in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad.
All three were convicted based on forced confessions extracted under torture after severe beatings. Their trials were grossly unfair, relying almost entirely on these coerced statements.
Authorities misled their families, promising their cases were under review for clemency and urging silence. On the morning of the executions, families were suddenly told to collect the bodies.
Ebrahim Dowlatabadi was a father of two children, aged 9 and 14.
