🚨Research alert!
Maximizing power and performance in noisy environments is a key challenge in acoustic tracking. Our newly published white paper at Sydney Harbor with @IMOS_AUS shows that adding just one NexTrak R1 receiver to an existing array significantly boosts efficiency, offering greater range and more detections.
For more results and range testing best practices, check out the full paper: innovasea.com/fish-tracking/…
Have you ever wondered what the long-term effects of tagging fishes are? We've collated peer-reviewed literature and anecdotal information to answer this question: doi.org/10.1111/faf.12861
In @FishFishJournal led by @JK_Matley
🚨New paper led by @JK_Matley & @natklinard. We reviewed 149 acoustic, radio, satellite, and archival tagging studies anecdotal accounts from 36 researchers to discuss the long-term effects of tagging aquatic animals with electronic transmitters. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
So excited to have deployed the 1st acoustic receiver network in Shark Bay! The SequeiraLab team had a blast during our last fieldtrip to tag tiger sharks & we can't wait to see what the data tell us! @NilsKreuter @EcoEvo_ANU@uwaoceans@CharlotteBirkysequeiralab.wordpress.com/20…

Hot off the press: What are the benefits of collaboration for acoustic tracking arrays? Queensland has drastically increased their acoustic coverage. Led by #AdamBarnett@BiopixelTVdoi.org/10.1186/s40462-024-0…
We are thrilled to share that we've secured $1.93 million from the State Govt's NCRIS Support Program. This funding will expand @IMOS_Aus's NSW Node based at SIMS, enhancing Australia's coastal monitoring capabilities & addressing critical data gaps.
Stay tuned for more!
Happy #WorldWildlifeDay! The #WWD2024 theme explores digital innovation. Check out this study which uses an IMOS data product to identify environmental drivers of activity in acoustically-tagged yellowtail kingfish bit.ly/3OX0eaF
Update from @IMOSAnimalTrack 🦈 🐠
Our latest Narooma line servicing revealed 6,960 new detections of sharks, rays, & fish! This amounts to 69,949 detections recorded in the region since 2012.
Dive into the data on the AODN portal: animaltracking.aodn.org.au/
Back from Narooma, the @IMOSAnimalTrack team has updated our acoustic receiver line, part of a national network tracking animals since 2012.
All nine stations are now serviced, enriching the AODN portal with new data. Check out who stopped by: animaltracking.aodn.org.au/ 🐠📡
