Fruitful discussions with @IMOSecGen Arsenio Dominguez. We focused on the maritime challenge in the Strait of Hormuz, the importance of adherence to International law, and respect for the sovereignty of territorial waters. There is an urgent need to advance a humanitarian initiative to free ships in the Gulf, in safety and in cooperation with the littoral states.

استقبل معالي السيد بدر بن حمد البوسعيدي @badralbusaidi وزير الخارجية، بمقر الوزارة، معالي أرسينيو دومينغيز، الأمين العام للمنظمة البحرية الدولية، حيث أجرى الجانبان مشاورات تتعلق بالتحديات الراهنة التي تواجهها حركة الملاحة البحرية في المنطقة وعبر مضيق هرمز والمساعي المبذولة لمعالجتها بالطرق الودية والسلمية بالتعاون مع سائر الأطراف ذات الصلة.
وأكد معالي السيد وزير الخارجية، في هذا الصدد، على ضرورة الالتزام بالقانون الدولي وقانون البحار إلى جانب احترام الجميع لسيادة الدول على مياهها الإقليمية.
كما أعرب معالي أمين عام المنظمة البحرية عن تقديره للتعاون القائم مع سلطنة عمان وارتياحه للمشاورات التي أجراها على أمل متابعة الجهود الرامية إلى التنفيذ الآمن للمبادرة الإنسانية التي أطلقتها المنظمة بشأن مرور الناقلات العالقة حاليا في الخليج بالتعاون مع الأطراف ذات الصلة.
