The Supreme Court recognised homemakers as nation builders and held that the loss of domestic-care services must be treated as a distinct head of compensation. The Court fixed a notional monthly income of ₹30,000 for assessing such loss.
A bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and N. Kotiswar Singh emphasised the economic value of unpaid household work and expressed hope that the word ‘homemaker’ would now acquire the acronym ‘nation builder’.
“Housewives contribute to the household. They are nation builders. They build the nation. How do you assess that contribution and monetise it? The word ‘homemaker’ would now acquire the acronym of ‘nation builder’”, it observed.
The Court also stated that it had issued directions and expressed hope and trust that the Chief Justices of all High Courts would monitor the issue.
The Court further stated that loss of domestic care should be recognised as an additional head of compensation, acknowledging the substantial but often unremunerated contribution of homemakers to families and society.

Else HOW THE NATION WILL GROW..?😂
So, if your wife is a homemaker, i.e. a housewife, and is unable to earn from any other source,
but is demanding maintenance worth lakhs from you in court,
just tell the judge that a homemaker’s work is valued at only ₹30,000 per month.
And yes, don’t forget to mention that she must continue doing that work and cannot simply sit at her parents’ house.
After all, if homemaking is considered a full-time profession for maintenance claims, then she should keep performing that profession too.
Else HOW WILL THE NATION GROW? 😛

A separated or divorced home maker can offer her home making services in a dignified manner to elderly people or bachelors etc and she can easily earn Rs. 30,000 per month.
Why would she need monthly alimony from her ex-husband?
