60 million Americans would join a union if they could. Weak labor law and lawbreaking employers have become the central impediment to workers having the freedom to form a union.

Strong labor laws don’t happen by accident. Through sustained engagement with Ohio lawmakers, the UA helped pass the E-Verify Worker Integrity Act — protecting workers, improving jobsite standards, and supporting fair competition.

Big news: a federal judge blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to end TPS for more than 350,000 Haitians. That’s a win for workers who live and work here legally and keep our communities running. This fight isn’t over, but this is a victory. nytimes.com/2026/02/02/us/ha…

#BlackHistoryMonth is a time to honor the trailblazers and barrier-breakers who fought for racial justice — and a reminder of the work we have to do. Listen to AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer @STRedmond’s thoughts on the 100th anniversary of Black History Month:

This Black History Month and every month, NABTU honors the generations of Black American and Canadian leaders whose perseverance strengthened our unions, advanced fairness on the job, and expanded economic opportunity across North America. We remain committed to diversity, equity, and building pathways into family‑sustaining careers.

Political violence is never ok and must be stopped. In June, Minnesota Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, lost their lives, and now Charlie Kirk lost his.   My condolences are with Charlie’s family, especially his young children.

On this date in 2021, the House honored the work of my mentor and friend, Congressman John Lewis by passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to protect against discriminatory gerrymandering and other attacks on our democracy. Unfortunately, the Senate refused to act on it. Today, with unfair redistricting, including potentially in Indiana and across our country, we need this law more than ever.

Rokita cost the taxpayers $500K defending his childish actions. He thought he could get away with slandering a doctor for doing her job on national TV, but he’s not above the law. Hoosiers deserve leaders that protect medical freedom and tell the truth. indianacapitalchronicle.com/…

Hoosiers are worried about their local income taxes going up and rising utility bills due to state Republican mismanagement. Rather than focus on the issues, Republicans want to change the rules of the game while it’s being played so they can cheat their way to stay in power.

Let’s call the Department of the Interior’s stop-work order for Revolution Wind what it is: President Donald Trump just fired 1,000 of our members who had already labored to complete 80% of this major energy project. A ‘stop-work order’ is the fancy bureaucratic term, but it means one thing: throwing skilled American workers off the job after they’ve spent a decade training, building, and delivering. On Friday the govt shut down #RevolutionWind. LIUNA members who had good jobs Friday don’t have a job to go to Monday. This project is 80% done with 2M #union hours already worked. They promised cheaper #energy and jobs. Instead they killed union work, raised bills, and weakened America’s future. #LIUNABuilds #FeelThePower #unionstrong

Tearing up union contracts, taking Medicaid and SNAP away from millions of workers and gutting essential services is not putting “American workers first” — it’s protecting billionaires and greedy corporate CEOs while leaving working families increasingly vulnerable.
