The Reform of Legal Services (Scotland) Bill was passed on 20/05/25, bringing significant changes to how legal services are delivered and regulated in Scotland.

🛡️What this means for our profession:
- All legal service providers must now be formally regulated
- Firms regulated by the Law Society must be solicitor-owned or have a solicitor in a compliance/oversight role
- The Bill introduces the option for new “approved regulators”

📌These new regulators may be able to oversee non-solicitor providers, including will writers and estate planners
We’re currently reviewing the Bill in detail to understand how it may affect our Members and the services provided.
