India’s rooftop solar transition has entered a new era under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. While 7.94 lakh rooftop solar installations were recorded over the 10 years from 2014–24, the scheme has enabled an outstanding 41.69 lakh installations is about 2 years (as on 9th June, 2026).
The scale and speed of this expansion reflect a major achievement in India’s clean energy journey, accelerating rooftop solar adoption, strengthening energy security, and advancing a self-reliant solar future for the country.

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) has been conferred the "Data Centre Excellence" Award at the 11th India PSU IT Awards 2026, organised by Governance Now, recently in New Delhi.
The award was presented by Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon'ble Member of Parliament in the presence of Shri Kailashnath Adhikari, Managing Director, Governance Now. Shri Kuber Malhotra, General Manager (IT), along with senior officials received the award on behalf of IREDA.
The award recognises IREDA's significant achievements in strengthening its digital infrastructure and driving technology-led transformation across the organisation.

A landmark achievement in India’s clean energy journey!
On 29th May 2026, the highest-ever single-day record of 15,000 rooftop solar installations across the country was achieved under the @PMSuryaGhar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
Maharashtra set a new record with 4700 installations in a single day and became the second state after Gujarat to cross the landmark of 6 lakh installations.

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) has announced its Audited Standalone and Consolidated financial results for the Quarter and Year ended 31 March 2026, showcasing significant growth across key financial metrics. The company reported its highest-ever Annual Profit After Tax of ₹1,873 crore.
The results were approved at the Board meeting held today at IREDA's registered office in New Delhi. The Board of Directors recommended a final dividend of ₹ 0.75/- per equity share (7.5% of face value of ₹10/- each) for the financial year 2025-26, subject to approval of Shareholders in the ensuing Annual General Meeting. The total dividend for the financial year is ₹ 1.35/- per equity share (on face value of ₹ 10/- each), including interim dividend of ₹ 0.60 per share.
The year saw a healthy expansion in the loan book, higher revenue from operations and robust profitability, underlining IREDA's strategic effectiveness and operational resilience.
