Asian Financial Crisis, 1997. I had convinced myself I understood Asia because I owned two linen suits and could say "another bottle, please" in Cantonese. This, as it turned out, was not sufficient risk management. I was long property, long the HKD and above all long my own brilliance. Every morning the screens bled red and by September, half the desk looked like it had aged twenty years. The cruelest part was not the money, but rather the speed with which certainty vanished. One minute you are drinking martinis at the Mandarin Oriental, the next you're selling your golf clubs to a dentist from Kowloon.
Anyone who lost it all trading, tell us your story. What happened and why?

The reason why EXILE ON MAIN ST is such a great album is because it *isn't* packed full of hits, Mick is largely in the background, and in the deep album cuts the Stones are *almost* piercing the veil.
I just listened to "Exile on Main St" in its entirety for the first time. It really is a boring-ass album, I think everyone was right to reject it at first. The Rolling Stones are the only band I can think of where the big hits really are the best of what they have to offer.

A 6 month old, endangered, Shy Albatross found himself a long way from home recently, and was taken in by local legends, Mosswood Wildlife. Unfortunately, the wind not strong enough to get him going today, but any albatross on course is a good one.

It's disturbing how many times Scottie has acted like a 15 handicap at a resort course with caddies this season Or maybe it's just disturbing how many times 15 handicaps at resort courses with caddies act like Scottie 🤷

In 1972, a French enrichment plant noticed something weird in a shipment of uranium ore from Gabon. The U-235 fraction was 0.7171% instead of the universal 0.7202%. A 0.0031 delta doesn't sound like much, but in nuclear, it's significant. Something had been "eating" U-235.

Starting in 2008, former professional gambler and EchoStar co-founder Charlie Ergen went all-in on wireless spectrum, betting that scarce wireless licenses would become more valuable over time and that he could either build a viable wireless business or force a strategic buyer to pay up in the future. For years, his hand looked shaky as he faced massive risks including crushing debt, FCC buildout deadlines, repeated missed milestones, and near-bankruptcy pressure. Charlie didn't falter with the bluff of a lifetime. Finally, after 18 years, the river card came through as $SATS monetized the spectrum in massive deals with AT&T and SpaceX, turning a long, painful, and highly leveraged $30 billion bet into a payoff north of $40 billion. His persistence and self-belief is truly legendary.

Following continuous messages and calls on the 25 crop [current 2yo’s], here is data like a “league ladder” sorted by ROI of the entire crop sold. Earning figures are inflated, as not all runners went through a “yearling sale”. ♦️Detailed data in comments below Minimum of 20 lots at the 25’ year commercial sales: Will add 3-4 random stallions each day and show updated results in ladder - sorted by the entire crop ROI [basic earnings divided by sales cost]

Wayne Bennett has revealed the heartbreaking toll Jai Arrow’s MND diagnosis has taken on South Sydney, with the veteran coach admitting the Rabbitohs knew around a month ago the popular forward would never play again. Bennett said Arrow underwent “every test in the world” before doctors confirmed the devastating diagnosis, with the former Maroons enforcer already showing signs of muscle deterioration. “Of course it has rattled me,” Bennett told The Daily Telegraph. “I see Jai standing there in front of me every day and I can see what’s happening to him. It’s so sad. We’re all hurting.” Bennett praised Arrow’s toughness and determination throughout his career, insisting South Sydney will stand by him through his fight with MND. “Jai won’t fight this alone. He knows that.” “Jai Arrow just got there by sheer determination and hard work and he always put his body on the line for the team.” The Rabbitohs coach also confirmed Arrow will remain involved around the club, attend training and travel with the team as Souths rally around one of their most respected players. En 1973, ante un público que iba esperando "Harvest", Neil Young tocaba entero el disco "Tonight's the Night", que abre y cierra con la canción homónima. En los bises decía "ahora voy a tocar una que ya conocen". El público festejaba. Y entonces tocaba... "Tonight's the Night".
