It has been an eventful three days at the Africa Climate Summit 2, where Governments, Multilaterals, Civil society groups, and the private sector converged from around the world.
I had the privilege to interact with various stakeholders and participate in crucial events focused on enhancing climate financing in Nigeria and fortifying our climate ecosystem.
Preceding COP30 in Belem, Brazil, this Summit united prominent African climate players to discuss the Baku to Belem roadmap, aiming to secure $1.3 trillion in climate finance to bridge the substantial funding shortfalls crucial for developing nations to achieve their climate goals.
Key highlights from the Summit:
- Strengthening regional partnerships and establishing robust frameworks to drive carbon market potentials.
- Advocating for Ministries of Finance to integrate climate financing into fiscal strategies.
- Empowering Country Platforms for effective results in funding loss and damage.
- Mobilizing local resources for Climate and Nature preservation amidst fiscal challenges.
- Overhauling Trade & Investment Policies to bolster Africa's economic and climate resilience.
- Encouraging private sector involvement in Adaptation Finance: Clearing uncertainties and spurring action.
