At his or her core, every black person, or white supporter, knows that Karmelo was wrong to kill Austin. Everyone knows this should’ve at most ended as a school fight. We all know meeting a shove with a stab is ludicrous. By saying Austin was justly killed, you are ipso facto saying every school fight ought end with another kid dead. By saying that, you justify the would-be death of every black boy that has started a fight with another child, of which there are many videos. They know, by this logic, they likely would have been justly killed at one point in their life; school fights are common. We know Karmelo was not jumped; he walked away with no injuries, and the witness that suggested he was surrounded conceded that he was wrong after viewing the video. The only reason they support Karmelo is because of racial loyalties. If Karmelo had stabbed another black kid, they would lament this as a pointless loss of life. And, for whites that support Karmelo, they only do it out of hatred for their own race. Truly, I wish this could’ve been avoided. I take no joy in the fact that the lives of two young men have been ruined: one dead and the other rotting in jail. These were, by all accounts, bright boys that had a future ahead of them. The greatest grief is to mourn a life wasted before its time.
