And just 1 entrance exam (AIIMS Entrance Exam) for that medical college.
And just 50 MBBS seats in total.
And "No reservation" at all.
What would happen?
The 50 students who got selected in those 50 seats in AIIMS would be called meritorious.
And rank 51, 52... onwards would be considered less meritorious, right?
Now imagine if govt opened a new medical college (PMCH) , which would take admission of rank 51 to 100 into their MBBS program.
What would happen?
Those who got admission into PMCH using rank 51-100 would also be called meritorious and ranks from 101.. 102 onwards would be called less meritorious, right?
Imagine this way, if 20 medical colleges are opened in India which would intake ranks from 1st till 1000 into their MBBS program, what would happen?
These 1000 students would be considered meritorious and rank 1001 onwards would be considered less meritorious, right?
So, first of all, we need to understand that the logic of merit is flawed. In a poor country like India, where there are only few hundred seats for lakhs of candidates in any field, lakhs of students are left behind just because the number of seats are very very less.
We need to increase the number of seats in our colleges, atleast 10 times that of current numbers to be at par with requirements.
Ask your state and central governments to increase the budget in education to 10% of total budget, increase the number of seats in colleges to atleast 10 times the current number and to provide proper basic infrastructure to colleges.
That will make the country grow, not your rants on removing reservation because reservation is NOT getting removed.
