This isn't remotely true. You're arguing with your imagination, not reality. A taco bell taco costs .19 in 1962 when it opened. That's worth 2.10 today. A taco bell taco costs 1.99 today, cheaper in real dollars compared to 1962.

Boomers complaining about inflation isn't the same thing as you all comparing prices without allowing for inflation. I'm helping you. You're welcome ;)
You see where I said “Big Mac meal” and I joked about about a boomer bitching about today’s prices and in their day it was $3. And do you see how you basically showed my work? So what are you trying to accomplish here?

The question is whether this is due to more students learning more things or whether the finish line has been moved closer to the starting line.
More students are reaching the finish line. 🎓 Our six-year graduation rate has increased by nearly 15 percentage points. This is a reflection of our commitment to student success and our mission to make Kentucky better through what we do here. Read more: go.uky.edu/OurMission #UKy #UniversityofKentucky #HigherEd

Choosing a Thanksgiving menu that needs 6 hrs to prep and 10 hrs to cook... but you only have 3 hrs to prep and 5 hrs to cook for 25 guests = 'All-guests' rhetoric with some-guests schedule, menu, and preparation. That's literally the story of most district curriculum adoptions.

I swear I'm going to start a YouTube channel where I prepare inexpensive meals using only a microwave, an air fryer, and a mini-fridge.
Shockingly it’s easier to buy groceries and prep your own food when you have things like YOUR OWN HOME which includes room for a panty and a kitchen with storage because you aren’t living in a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 roommates.

I'm not a class traitor. Most working class people aren't anti-capitalist. If you are, that's fine, but you're the outlier, not me. And you should stay in your own lane. Nobody's keeping you from voluntary collectivism. You just can't force it on everyone else.
Actually you’re more pathetic than just being a class traitor. I’m a worker and I’m proud to be able to understand how capitalism harms all of us. when something bad happens to you or someone you love and you don’t have the money to fix it you’ll understand.

The OP blocked me, but if you work construction, then you know you're an outlier. Why pretend that's not the case. I wasn't arguing that you shouldn't live your truth or whatever. I was just saying that's not what most working class people believe or want.
Hi, I'm one of the lifetime construction workers who you're stereotyping. Twenty-one years of Right-to-Work construction, the last ten project managing for lazy fucks always on the golf course, is what radicalized me. There are plenty of communists, anarchists, and all flavors of socialists in the trades and also in factories. Your soft hands don't represent, or speak for us. Hope this helps.

The OP blocked me, but I think you misunderstood the post you replied to. I'm saying we're not going to evolve past NOT enslaving people (to enslaving people again). We're not going to evolve to less economic freedom. That's not how evolution or freedom work.

The OP blocked me. International poverty guidelines are set to compare apples to apples. And I think there is a lot we can to do decrease homelessness. I volunteer with a local homeless shelter. It's easy to secure resources for people who work full time.
Those guidelines are set to hide the amount of people living in poverty and extreme poverty in this country. They’re bs. Homelessness causes mental health and addiction issues too. A large number of homeless work full time and that number is increasing.

Capitalism assumes people are self-interested. Socialism assumes planners aren't. One of these is realistic.

Dude. I used free market instead of capitalism because you invented your own definition for capitalism. Are you disagreeing that yimby is free market?

And I'm not sure what a commie yimby is. But if it's the government letting you do your own thing, fabulous. If it's the government trying to force your thing on me, not fabulous.

In the last 7 days, I've bought discounted shaved steak (14 oz for 3.38) discounted catfish nuggets (2 pounds for 3.85) and discounted bakery bread (Four 5oz loaves for $1) from Kroger.
The U.S. not discounting perishable foods an hour before closing time is solely because of greed and cruelty. In America, they will rather throw away millions of pounds of food instead of coming up with a solution that benefits all but nope they’ll even arrest dumpster divers.

I can't reply in the thread because the OP restricted replies. But yes, fiat currency causes inflation. Theoretically, it doesn't have to, but in practice, it does. The US dollar was detached from gold in 1971. The cumulative inflation rate since then is 700%.
Wait… fiat currency (just existing I guess?) causes inflation?… Could you explain this, I want to make sure I’m getting the economics correct.

Here are other major fiat currencies compared to gold, all significantly deflated.

I'm not able to reply to you in the thread because @sdgrumbine restricted replies. But MMT and Marxism aren't economics. They are fringe ideologies that are rejected by economics. Like horoscopes and flat earth theory. It's just philosophers with authoritarian fantasies.
Replying to @IndianaModerate
Do you know who @sdgrumbine is!?! Based on this tweet with a few assumptions as I read it. “Twitter socialist” isn’t how I’d characterize Steve’s work & activism. Even though he’s isn’t an economist, he has spoken & interacted with dozens over 2 decades

This "economist" argues with me but blocks my reply . That's not what people who know what they are talking about do. @grok, is MMT widely rejected by the world's top economists?
You are speaking - anonymously - from a position of either ignorance or falsehood. I recommend doing some research. I can provide a reading list, if needed. Start here - cambridge.org/core/journals/…

My school changed ins. providers, so I had to select a plan. 1 high deductible plan was obviously the mathematically correct option. There is no scenario in which it isn't less expensive annually. Office mgr said I was the only teacher who chose that plan. People won't do math.

To be fair, not all teachers at my school use our insurance. Many teachers (maybe the math teachers) use their spouse's insurance. But there are still a lot of people choosing insurance plans based on vibes and not math.
