10 years ago. Before I quit my job to make apps, I worked at an animation studio, and we used a niche tool called @cyberduckapp. I instantly became infatuated with the fact that someone was making a living (by donations) for making a tool that provided a small work-flow tweak.
If 1 of the 13 sign ups from this campaign converted it would justify continuing the spend. But I’m sticking to my experiment of $100 bucks. Will probably try running reddit ads again in the future, but first, time to experiment with linkedIn.
App reviews are information gold. Not only yours. But also your competitors.
🙈I've been using my dev tool to spy on my competitors reviews! It's a great way to get a feel for what users are looking for in your space.

A positive review at the right time can have a huge impact.
I’ve been focusing on marketing a lot lately which I find challenging. This was a great reminder that my passion lies in building things of value.
Do positive reviews impact you?

Currently working on a customer request to add support for @Mattermost to AppReviewBot.
Has anyone played around with this open sourced messaging platform?
A lot of solo app devs & part time hackers shy away from spending on ads.
My ad spend philosophy as an indie:
1⃣ No ad spending until an app generates some money.
2⃣ An app generating cash organically earns the right to spend on itself.
3⃣ Cont.👇👇👇
3⃣ IF launching a new app AND a previous project is making money THEN spend from previous projects earnings on the launch of a new app.
How do you think about your ad spend as an indie?

When I run Facebook ads for Selfie-A-Day, I use a video of myself that I created in the app.
Result: I’m constantly getting roasted in the comments😂. Luckily they are funny and I always laugh at them.

Rude and unfair 1-star reviews can be painful to receive, but the best thing to do is to reply as warmly as possible.
It’s not about changing their mind, it’s about showing potential users reading in the future who you are as a developer.

Story Time:
In 2019 I got a cold email from a guy in Slovenia asking to buy an app I made.
It was an IG filter app called “Photo Pop”.
Took 4 months to make.
I had trouble marketing the app.
It was making about $9.00/month.
Mr. Slovenia offered to pay $5K USD...

I had no idea what to value the app so I tripled his offer asking for $15K. He emailed me back, $14K. I said yes.
We hopped on Skype, had a chat and transferred the money/app.
A fun moment on my indie hacker journey.
