Let me explain why I think Freddy resonates. Lots of Europeans visit the USA as tourists. They visit New York City, or Washington DC, or Hollywood, or Las Vegas, and if they visit natural beauty too, they go to really crowded places like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone. So while they see our cultural and natural icons, they are mostly in blue cities and they therefore also see the decline, the homeless, the drugs, the dirt and the rude, rude Americans. But Freddy is not doing that. Freddy is driving, and he’s doing it through the heartland, where people are kind and polite, the skies are wide open, and the bounty of Buc-ees and Bass Pro Shops are overwhelming. Freddy is not seeing fentanyl and decline. He is seeing the real, hopeful, patriotic, kind America that European tourists rarely traverse. And he loves it. That’s why Freddy is a phenomenon.
We found another surreal place on our way. I know some people will say I’m too positive about everything I see, but this place was crazy. They had a shooting range in the store.

The @nonrevgod came through for us today 🤙🏼. We got seats together on a completely full flight, and only 8 non-revs made it on. Feeling lucky!

The Germans are revering Taco Bell. The Swedes are dumbfounded by ranch. The English have discovered the sun. Just wait until the Europeans look up and see this ahead of Tunisia-Uzbekistan.

Not surprised at all. They just caught some Chinese “tourists” in the Philippines who were setting up surveillance webcams to monitor Philippine Navy and Coast Guard activities in/out port.
Two Chinese international students claiming to be casual tourists just got hit with espionage convictions after running a year-long drone surveillance operation over a nuclear-powered U.S. aircraft carrier. In a landmark legal move against foreign intelligence threats, the primary operator was sentenced to 18 months in prison for actively benefiting the enemy. Operating under the cover of academic study, the duo executed at least nine illegal aerial filming sessions targeting a major naval command. The operation culminated in a high-stakes security breach when they flew a commercial drone over the 100,000-ton USS Theodore Roosevelt right as the sitting South Korean president arrived to inspect the warship during sensitive joint military drills. Investigators ultimately seized nearly 12 gigabytes of restricted data, including hundreds of photos and videos of the classified base. The primary suspect had direct contacts linked to Chinese police on his phone and repeatedly shared the footage over messaging apps. Because the Chinese-made drone app automatically synced all captured media straight to servers based in China, the operation effectively handed Beijing a backdoor look into allied frontline maritime defenses. #Espionage #NationalSecurity #DroneWarfare #USNavy #MilitaryIntelligence #Geopolitics #SouthKorea

Took the kid plane spotting again today and he was able to see some F-35’s. He also caught the 2x KC-46’s that was dragging them across the Pacific.

Big day for the kid yesterday. ⚽️ He completed club soccer tryouts, and now we wait 48 hours to find out if he made the team. Then came his current league championship game. With several players unavailable, they had no substitutes, but the boys battled hard and dominated possession most of the match. They created chance after chance but just couldn’t find the back of the net. A tough 1-2 loss in the final. 😢 Proud of the effort, resilience, and heart they showed. Now we wait for the next chapter.

Great story about perseverance. Never give up 🤙🏼
In 1985 I made the USA World Championships Gymnastics Team. I placed 3rd at the Trials, my highest placement to date as a young gymnast. At Worlds, on my 8th and final event I fell. It was a devastating fall. I missed a release move and tumbled to the ground. My right foot was stuck while my body spun around the knee. I knew it was bad. I screamed, or thought I did. No one came. It felt like forever on the raised platform, no coach, no trainer, no doctor while I writhed. Eventually my coach realized I wasn't getting back up. They rushed to me. The trainer thought my knee was dislocated and he attempted to push it back in place. It wasn't dislocated though. My femur was broken - we didn't know that yet - and he was pushing bone against bone. My dad joined me in the ambulance. I remember sobbing -- "What am I going to do now? I don't know how to do anything else. This is all I want to do." He cried too. We assumed my career was over. He said: "You can do anything you want to do. You're smart and you can be anything you want to be. You're just getting started." He was right in so many ways. But all I wanted then was to be a gymnast. I was taken to the nearest hospital and rushed into surgery. It was a French speaking hospital and we didn't fully understand what anyone was telling us. When I came out of surgery a doctor who spoke English told us "It was a broken femur. Not her knee." We cheered. We were all so happy. My coaches, my parents, me. Bones often heal better than joints. I left Canada on crutches with a full leg cast. When I got home to Pennsylvania, my doctor changed the cast to a lighter one, with a hinge at the knee. And I went back to the gym. I started training right away. 8 months later, in June 1986, I walked into the arena in Indianapolis for USA Championships. No one thought I'd be there. Everyone thought I was done. Forever. I knew I wasn't done. Not yet. I won. I became the National Champion less than a year after breaking my femur on the world's stage. Never give up. Never.

Arrived into Sydney last night and took a walk down to Darling Harbour to catch the Vivid laser show. It was okay, but in hindsight I should’ve gone to the Opera House like I did in previous years. I always thought the illumination on the sails made for a much more impressive experience.

If you think Pete Hegseth is rough on promotions, wait til you hear about what this guy did:
SCOOP: Hegseth has blocked the appointment of nine Air Force colonels and delayed the promotion of at least two dozen more senior officers, according to current and former U.S. officials, in the latest instance of the Pentagon chief’s unusual scrutiny of the military’s senior ranks. wsj.com/politics/national-se…

Just some good old entertainment after a home-cooked dinner. Got in this morning from Osaka, then it’s off to Sydney tomorrow. Managed to squeeze in a nice afternoon nap and now watching Patton on TV. Not a bad way to recharge between trips. 🤙🏼
