a guide to Jung's Active Imagination practice: > what is it? Jung believed the psyche was a self-healing system, which means that your unconscious mind knows the path towards integration & wholeness. this is not something you need to "figure out"; it's something to uncover. dreams are one way to get a glimpse at the psyche's orientation; Active Imagination is another way > why should I do it? if you're looking for a way to get a deeper look into your unconscious mind, connect with stuck emotion, or shift some outdated beliefs... this is a great practice. however, if any of that sounds deeply uncomfortable for you, perhaps this is not the practice for you (or perhaps, not yet) > what do I need? a quiet space, 20-30 minutes. for the record this is the description of my personal practice, which I've found quite effective, and not an attempt to accurately describe Jung's exact approach. you may find you want to journal about it afterwards, or capture it in a voice note > how do I start? sit down, close your eyes, and notice what's present in your body. notice any thoughts, emotions, or sensations that are present. notice what seems to want your attention the most, and tune into that. if it's a thought, try to get to the underlying feeling of it as you place your attention on the feeling/sensation, allow an image to emerge. stay with that image, and allow it to unfold. follow the image, like you're experiencing a dream, trying to loosely hold your attention to it, without forcing it in a particular direction. if it disappears, no problem, just start at the beginning again. there is no goal here; there is no "success" stay with the image/scene as long as it lingers, and let it play out. notice how your body responds to what happens. feel free to respond to what emerges, asking questions, engaging in dialogue with any figures that appear, etc at the end of the practice, notice how you feel. what symbols emerged in the scene? which seemed particularly resonant? what do those symbols mean to? what seems to be the message of the vision, if any comes to mind? don't force any interpretation, but stay curious. "what is my psyche trying to tell me?" > do you have an example? yes, thanks for asking. yesterday I started this practice by noticing some anger in my chest. the anger was associated with the desire to clench my fists and jaw, and also some tension in my throat, the desire to scream. I focused on the sensation, and an image emerged: me standing on the edge of a cliff, screaming I stayed with that for a few minutes, letting my body feel what it would be like to be there, at that cliffside... and then the image shifted. the cliff crumbled beneath my feet, and I fell into the ocean. I sank into the deep darkness of the sea, until I hit the bottom. I lay there, amongst the mud and seaweed, until a certain figure came to fetch me (a recurring character from this practice). and so it went in this brief example, there's some rich symbolism: the expression of anger leads to the "collapse" into the sea (the ocean is often associated with the unconscious). there's a clear direction here: feeling my anger allows me to sink deeper within the unconscious, and eventually attract a healing presence (the figure) > what if nothing shows up? what if I don't know what it means? not everyone responds to imaginal practices such as these; my advice would be to try it a few times, see what happens, and then decide if it feels useful. interpretation is not an exact science, so don't try to get it "right", just notice what meaning comes to mind. as with any somatic/emotional practice, be mindful of what feels like "too much" (or the edge of too much), and back out as needed. if anything feels overwhelming, don't force it. have fun, and let me know how it goes 🌊

I think most people have no idea how strange consciousness actually is until they "see" it in the DMT space. Across thousands of trips, cultures, decades, and belief systems, the same beings keep showing up. You can dismiss one person’s vision; but you can’t dismiss an entire earth pattern repeating itself like a fingerprint. The first group people meet are the “machine elves,” though that name doesn’t even come close to describing them. These are hyper aware geometric tricksters that seem to operate the wallpaper of reality like technicians behind the screen. They don’t just look at you, they actually recognize you. And if you go deeper still, you meet the feminine presence called the Mother, the Oversoul, the Shakti force behind everything. She’s the one who welcomes you, dissolves you, reminds you you’ve been here before. Every culture has a name for her because every culture has met her. Remember .... your headspace dictates what you see .. at least for the most part. But it’s not all light. There are watchers that are tall, silent beings who observe more than they speak, like architects evaluating a structure they built ages ago. There are serpents that feel like pure energy, winding through your awareness. There are tricksters who push your ego into the light just to show you where the cracks are. There are shadow forms as well, but those are less “entities” and more the debris you haven’t cleaned out of your own psyche. They only have power if you pretend you don’t know them. So, I think that either millions of people from every corner of the planet are hallucinating the "same" shit with super uncanny precision… or consciousness is bigger than the brain, and these beings have always been there, waiting beyond the veil. Personally, I don’t think the universe wastes that kind of consistency on coincidence. I think the DMT realm is tapping into the same field shamans access, the same intelligence behind ancient mythology, the same presence that shows up in UFO encounters. Same beings, different doorway.
