🫁 We are proud to be offering a pilot project with remote monitoring for patients with COPD over winter to support early treatment of exacerbations and prevent attendance to ED and Primary care. Criteria? Tower Hamlets patients with 2 COPD admissions or more in the past year. 🌟

Discordant COPD (FEV1/FVC <0.7, >LLN) is a clinically relevant phenomenon that represents an early COPD state, rather than being overdiagnosis of COPD, as demonstrated by CT analysis, serum biomarker levels, activity monitoring and quality of life scores. bit.ly/3WG8wYT

A low point today. Our team referred someone for Spirometry (we are not commissioned) and a Consultant has accused us of referring inappropriately and denying deserving patients appointments.
The ICB says that they shouldn't decline, the LMC are not interested. Patients lose.

Factors to be considered when defining COPD. Healthy ageing and/or exposure to risk factors may lead to development of symptoms such as breathlessness and/or to pre-COPD.
