This is the most recent news on Hannah from her mom.
💥💥💥Hannah Update 6/2/26💥💥💥
Hannah is finally out of her third surgery, which began around 9am and lasted until after 6pm. The orthopedic surgeon, Dr Canfield, came out and spoke with us for quite awhile. He patiently explained all the details of how the day went. He began with the reconstruction of her pelvis, which took the majority of the time. He placed screws, plates and one long metal bar across the front of her pelvis. He explained the logistics of why he repaired each break the way that he did and was as clear as he could be, considering that we are not doctors. The metal bar, being the most invasive piece of equipment, can come out in 6 months after the bones have fully and securely healed. After the pelvic repair, he worked on her bilateral arm fracture, which he said was severe and required several plates and screws. Finally, he repaired the fractures in both of her ankles and her tibia. He said that all the breaks that require surgery are now fixed, other than the bones in her face, which will require surgical repair, probably later this week.
We were finally able to go in to see her around 7pm, and she was awake, squeezing our hands, making eye contact, and responding to our questions by squeezing our hands yes or no.
She was definitely more aware, more wanting to interact with us than we have seen her since the accident…and painfully, more emotional and frightened.
We worked very hard to be reassuring, telling her that she was doing great, that she was already beginning to heal, and she shook her head no, and seemed to have a lot of fear😰 . Her emotions are running high, she is scared and in great physical pain. We told her that she has an absolute army praying for her…and this made her extremely emotional.
The ventilator is also beginning to cause her distress, and she was coughing some tonight. She is not yet at a point where they can discuss removing it…so please pray she can endure the discomfort of the vent for as long as it is needed to keep her safe.
We cannot tell you how grateful we are for all of you, your prayers, your support, food delivered to the ICU waiting room, friends paying for our first week at a nearby hotel…and your great love for our precious girl and for our family. I hope that knowing how many people truly love her will give Hannah incredible strength and comfort in the difficult days she has ahead of her.
We are eternally grateful to God for sparing her life on Saturday night, and we ask you to join us in prayer that He will continue to preserve her life and body until this danger has passed and her body can fully and miraculously heal.
Please continue to pray and donate if God allows!
Please help a local Orthodox family out after a horrible car accident.
“Hannah was in an extremely severe car accident that caused breaks to her pelvis, both legs, both ankles, her left arm, hip, and back. As well as a fracture around her eye socket, a broken nose, and a small brain bleed. Also, due to the impact all her abdominal organs were pushed upwards into her chest cavity which caused her peritoneum and diaphragm to rupture. The pressure of displaced organs then caused her to also suffer a collapsed lung. She will be needing long term medical care and physical therapy moving forward, and does not currently have health insurance. We are trying our best to make things work financially, however my family, my husband, and I will also be needing extended time off of work to be by her side. If you feel so led, please give, anything helps. Please pray for our whole family and especially my beautiful sister, Hannah, as we go down this journey of recovery with her.”
