#PreventKidneyDisease:Kidneys are vital organs responsible for filtering waste, balancing fluids, and regulating blood pressure. When they fail to perform these tasks effectively, it can lead to a domino effect, impacting other aspects of health. However, maintaining healthy kidneys is possible with the right lifestyle choices and regular monitoring. Preventing kidney disease begins with understanding how kidneys function when they are healthy. Maintaining a healthy weight, staying hydrated, eating a balanced diet, and managing conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes are key to reducing the risk of kidney disease. Early detection is equally important. Regular check-ups, especially for people on longterm medication for chronic illnesses, can help identify any potential problems before they become severe. @InnovateFor_dvt @UPMB_Uganda @kabuniversityĀ  @HEJNUg @rkalyes1 @TonyElumeluFDN @TheMutebile

People living with #Type1Diabetes (T1D) rely on self-monitoring blood glucose (SMBG) tools to manage their health. Yet, accessing these tools remains a significant challenge for many people living in low- and middle-income countries. A new study from @HAImedicines, supported by Helmsley and @FINDdx, sheds light on the barriers that people living with T1D face in accessing SMBG supplies, and what we can do to improve health outcomes for everyone – no matter where they live. This truly is the descriptive reality for people struggling with Chronic Kidney Disease in UG. Not many can afford to manage #CKD and indeed its unaffordable even to govt. The most effective strategy is #prevention esp for the most at risk like #diabetes #hypertension

Our partner @TheMutebile Mutebire Foundation are leading the crusade to prevent kidney disease in greater Kigezi. Their call for investment in prevention, early detection and community screening is critical given the fact that we can't as a country afford to treat #CKD.
