Danish study by Frisch and Simonsen that reported a 46% higher risk of autism in circumcised boys compared to uncircumcised boys. For infantile autism (a subset of ASD diagnosed before age 5), the risk was 83% higher in circumcised boys.
One of the factors that should be studied in RFK Jr’s investigation into the increase in autism prevalence should be looking into the 2015 Danish study by Frisch and Simonsen that reported a 46% higher risk of autism in circumcised boys compared to uncircumcised boys. For infantile autism (a subset of ASD diagnosed before age 5), the risk was 83% higher in circumcised boys.
This is only one study, more research should be done. But it is worth noting that autism is much more prevalent among boys in the United States than it is among girls, but in Hispanic nations where circumcision rates are much lower, the autism gender ratio is closer to 1:1.
Israel doesn’t have particularly high autism stats but I suspect high-functioning and functioning autism would be highly common and severely underdiagnosed there. Same for the Muslim countries.
One possible culprit might be the acetaminophen commonly given after the procedure. Studies have shown that mothers taking acetaminophen during pregnancy raises risk of infantile autism.
Another possibility is that the study was confounded by the uncircumcised boys being Danish while the circumcised were mostly from Muslim immigrant families.
Something to consider though.
