I used to think the average person had common sense.
Then I started seeing people argue that kids canât consent to âgender-affirming careâ because theyâre too young to make permanent decisions about their bodies. And I thought, âCool, so youâre against circumcision too, right?â
Thatâs when I discovered that applying the same principle in a different context is apparently an impossible task for a shocking number of people.
So let me get this straight: if a kid wants something done to their body, theyâre too young to consent. But if you want something done to their body, suddenly consent isnât important?
Sooo⌠you can chop up your kid how you want, but not how they want?
How about we stop chopping up kids altogether?
Itâs a pretty simple rule: donât permanently alter a childâs genitals unless thereâs a genuine medical necessity. The fact that you like a particular form of mutilation doesnât magically make it not mutilation.
