🚨 Real Madrid has proposed changing the arrangement under which Nico Paz is currently at Como. Real has a buy-back clause that it can exercise over the next two years: this year for €10m, next year for €11m. Real Madrid is asking: “Why don’t you, Como, just buy him outright for €40m?” Real would then insert a new buy-back clause at a figure of around €80m.
This is currently being discussed. Como would prefer the existing contract to be respected, and Paz himself would like to stay for another year and play in the Champions League. The two clubs will need to continue their talks.
The idea at Como is that this situation can be resolved, and there is confidence that Nico Paz will remain at Como. Real could always bring him back to Madrid for €10m and then negotiate with any interested club. Como has a preferential position and the player’s full approval, but it is not the only team interested.
The player’s wishes matter, but so do Real Madrid’s. Let me give an example: if the two clubs were to fall out, Real could simply exercise its contractual right to bring him back and then decide what to do with him. If relations were to break down, Real knows it could sell him to the highest bidder.
