ALT Most pesticides for dealing with Colorado potatobeetle infestations can kill harmless species. A newpesticide, called Calantha, is much more specific because ittargets a gene found in the pest and its close relatives. Appliedas a spray, the pesticide is eaten by beetle larvae and kills them byactivating a process called RNA interference.
