The thing that winds me up is how Elon has a trillion because he’s set up a system where he forcibly takes 40% of what hard working people produce, leverages it up as debt, spends it ineffectively and does dumb things to win the votes of millions of people who’ve become dependent on his handouts.

Mandatory geology classes for everyone, one of these is *literally* named San Andreas Lake
Drove from San Jose to SF for the first time ever today (I’m not from California). Absolutely shocked, floored, etc. at the incredible lack of development. Just mile after mile of trees and hills, not a single building or road, in what’s probably a top five value-per-acre area. I see why people are mad about NIMBYism now…

The tragedy of California YIMBYs is they're so used to fighting the worst NIMBYs in the country that now they're trying to fight me, a guy who thinks SF should be around 9 million people, for saying there's a reason no one is densifying the actual San Andreas fault 30 miles away

Don't call it a "data center" bigot, it's a critical no income residency site for the silicon housed community

Other issues aside I do think "I fucking love Science" has been displaced within the Democratic caucus by "We Believe In Science," which is different.

"Thank a millennial"/"thank a hipster" no, incorrect, regrettably you must thank SYSCO or US Foods' Premium Line if you can find creole crabcakes, Peruvian empanadas, and tuna sashimi on the same menu
It's crazy how much better restaurants in America have gotten in the past two decades. This is at a small rustic-cabins lodge up at 7,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada, and not on the main tourist routes. 20 years ago, probably just burgers, pizza, soggy sandwiches, chicken parm.

Craft beer gastropub global food renaissance? Yeah that's like 1995, we came on the scene like TEN YEARS LATER when we turned 21

Timelapse of all the geological sim features working together on bare bedrock - avalanches, rock crumbling, sand and soil creation and so on. Seems okay - I can let players start out with all sorts of weird terrains and trust that it'll become something plausible over time.

From the currently available video it's obvious that the cops are, in their minds, responding to a routine drunk & disorderly. They're bored, incurious, just as uninterested in the racial abuse claim from one as in the "I've been stabbed" claim from the other. TERRIBLE training
In the case of Henry Nowak I fail to see a racial angle. I guess there must be something wrong with me then. I see yet another example that the police in the UK is too distant from the citizens it should serve. This is common to many administrative bodies in the UK

This is not a vindication, the officers should be drummed out & ashamed for the rest of their lives. If he had a TBI instead of having been stabbed this would have been equally poor procedure

The reactionaries keep framing it like the police decided racism was a worse crime than stabbing but it's obvious they don't care about anything that happened that night. They're bored, apathetic janitors, swap the races and he'd still have died because they suck at their job

George Lucas tried to give San Francisco a multi billion dollar art & narrative museum and the NIMBYs had such a massive hissy fit he wound up moving the project to LA after five years of failed negotiations.

I find it sad that the Bay Area is not the museum capital of the world. It should have the best science museum, natural history museum, art museum, in the modern world. It should be a shining cultural beacon. The billionaires need to pull their weight.

California in general & SF in particular have been the site of arguably the greatest and most egalitarian wealth creation event in American history and the average resident thinks the individuals responsible are guillotine-deserving scum. This is sort of a problem

Like a month ago someone posted that "san francisco created more millionaires than apartments in the last year" and somehow the average prog thinks that's an indictment of the millionaires
