It was an honour to represent @stjamesdublin at the International Nurses Day event in the Department of Health today. A lovely opportunity to meet the CNO and reconnect with those from TUS, where my nursing journey began. Nursing to me is about compassion, advocacy, and making a difference - being a nurse is an absolute privilege ❤️ Happy international nurses day! ✨

A big thank you to everyone who joined myself and Lionel this week for the Update and Upskill session ‘Code Sepsis – Your Role in Rapid Recognition and Response’ We spoke about the critical role healthcare professionals play in identifying and responding to sepsis quickly. I also shared my own personal story—because sometimes the patient’s perspective is such an important part of understanding why early recognition and response truly matter. We’re so grateful to everyone who came along to listen and engage with this important talk. A huge thank you to Marian for having us!

Fantastic day yesterday meeting @jerrybuttimer in Leinster house about putting sepsis awareness on the political agenda. Huge thank you to Minister Buttimer and Cllr Jack White for their time. Yesterday, I also received this recognition from @IrishSepsis, I am truly honoured and so grateful to have received this. Raising awareness and supporting those affected by sepsis is a cause very close to my heart, and I’m incredibly lucky to be part of such a dedicated and inspiring team. Thank you so much ❤️

Absolutely fantastic day with my fellow board member Kim, giving a talk to staff and fire crew at @DublinAirport as part of their Safety Awareness Week! We discussed sepsis signs, symptoms, post-sepsis syndrome & the importance of wound care—especially for staff and fire crew who are more prone to injuries and cuts due to their daily duties. I also shared my story to highlight the impact of sepsis. The session was highly interactive, with fantastic engagement from everyone involved Huge thanks to everyone who took part and a huge thank you to Dublin Airport for having us!

This week, myself and James had the incredible opportunity to give a talk at the Central Bank of Ireland, sharing insights on sepsis awareness and my own story—a powerful reminder of why early recognition and intervention matter. It was an interactive and engaging session, sparking important conversations on how we can improve outcomes for those affected. Following this, we attended the Biomedica event at the Convention Centre Dublin, where we explored the latest innovations in medical diagnostics. A special mention to bioMérieux, whose stand provided a wealth of information on tackling the burden of sepsis. Their talks highlighted the importance of rapid diagnostics and the ongoing efforts to improve patient care.

Help us improve sepsis awareness & care! I've created a survey on Sepsis and Post Sepsis Syndrome for the public to help improve awareness and care. Your input is invaluable and it will help us improve education, raise awareness and save lives. I would be so grateful if you could take a few minutes to fill out this survey✨ #SepsisAwareness #IrishSepsisFoundation surveymonkey.com/r/QF8SMXP

The first photo is of me during my nursing internship at TUS, taken just a few days before I had sepsis. The second photo is with 2nd-year nursing students at @NursingTUS after giving a talk on sepsis, post-sepsis syndrome, and my own experience with sepsis. Today was such a special moment for me, as I trained at TUS to become a nurse, and now I’m back to give a talk on such an important topic. Thank you so much for having me—it was a pleasure meeting all of you! Best of luck on your nursing journey. Days like today make me so grateful that I can share these talks, and I wouldn’t be able to do it without @IrishSepsis ❤️

More people die of sepsis in Ireland than heart attacks and stroke. Sepsis can hide behind any infection. It is treated most effectively if recognised early, so it's important to know the symptoms so that you don't miss the signs.
