Look I don’t hate Uekawa’s SA1 Sonic art, it has a certain charm to it, but it feels pretty unrefined at times and just not his best imo
His style got better when he refined and toned it down a bit

Ngl, the reason it looks like that is that it's clearly a product of its time, but even so, it had the ideas in the right places
I don't think it's ideal for Sonic right now; at most, it should be a design for a spinoff, but it definitely understood what Sonic is like

The way Sega has been trying to force this dynamic in the past couple of years has honestly made me despise whenever they're used as a Duo, neither of them are characterized correctly and it's just obnoxious.

The idea of Silver and Blaze having a complex, stubborn dynamic with potential friction is great on paper. But in the actual Sonic canon? It's nonexistent. Their current writing in the games is too 'perfect' and transparent, making it plain boring
