Omar Artan didn’t just make the #FIFAWorldCup, he made history as the first Somali referee to get there, and as #Africa’s best. That milestone stands no matter what. So sorry to see this, Omar. You reached the summit of your profession and inspired a generation back home just by getting there, and being kept off the pitch you earned doesn’t change that. This won’t be the end of your story on the world stage. The world stands with you as one family, wishing you resilience now and many more major finals to come. Solidarity. #Somalia
Somali referee Omar Artan, who was set to be the first from his country to officiate at the World Cup finals, has been denied entry to the United States.

This interview hurt my soul. The mistreatment of black women and journalists by this President is down right embarrassing and unacceptable. Kristin Welker is neither crooked or stupid. She is a history making journalist who has earned the right to be respected. The President should apologize immediately.

Just intv‘d Iranian Supreme Leader‘s military advisor Gen. Mohsen Rezaei. Some main lines: - talks are deadlocked and Trump must unlock them by unfreezing Iranian assets. - “24 billion $ is not much for America if he wants to reach an agreement with Iran.” - “this is our own (Iran’s) not America’s money.” - “the cost of negotiating is much less for America than the cost of fighting with us (Iran).” - if the war and blockade continue, Iran will drag it into the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Bab al Mandab, Mediterranean. - Meeting between Trump and Supreme Leader “will not happen.” @CNN

This shouldn’t be brushed aside. It shouldn’t be glossed over. And it shouldn’t be normalised.

Albanians have taken to the streets of Tirana to protest a plan linked to President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to build a luxury resort in protected wetlands on the Albanian coast. Yet Albania’s PM tells me “there is no project,” dismissing the story as fake news.

"During the call, he even mentioned to Netanyahu, when he asked him to stand down and to not go forward with the strikes in Beirut, he told him, 'If it weren't for me, you would have been in prison by now," @BarakRavid reports.

Just extraordinary- Chutzpah and obtuseness on steroids. You start a regional conflagration fail to remove threat; expose the Gulf states to strikes; and then you ask them to expose themselves further by tethering themselves to a right wing Israeli government annexing West Bank.
Trump said he is not sure the U.S. should sign a deal to end the war with Iran if Saudi Arabia and other gulf countries don't agree join the Abraham Accords. "They owe it to us", he said

RT @Azodiac83: Was a pleasure to join @IsaCNN to discuss the latest Iran-US talks.

Told @IsaCNN @cnni: Nobody should be surprised by the speed of Iran’s military recovery. We already saw indications of this during the 12-day conflict. Iran has the motivation, the technical knowledge, and, importantly, many of its strategic facilities are underground and heavily fortified. Even if the current campaign were to end today, Iran would eventually rebuild its capabilities. And if fighting resumes, Iran would still retain the ability to strike Israel and the Gulf states. The gaps between Iran and the United States remain significant, but mediators are working intensively behind the scenes because both sides understand they want to avoid another war. President Trump still wants to exhaust the diplomatic option, but we are entering a critical moment. From his perspective, if no agreement is reached, he may feel he has little choice but to return to military action. Israel is extremely concerned about the possibility of a U.S.-Iran agreement. Israel would prefer to maintain or renew military pressure, and it is clear that Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump are not fully aligned on the current approach while the White House is pursuing diplomacy. For Netanyahu, almost any agreement is problematic because it could limit Israel’s freedom of action not only now, but also in the future. That is why he is trying, as much as possible, to prevent such a deal from materializing. #iran

First reaction from Cuban government to extraordinary indictment of Raul Castro today. Battle lines being drawn…
