Here is our great big monograph on #fossil #megafaunal #kangaroos of genus #Protemnodon! Six years in the making. We recognise 7 species, 3 newly named, with diversity of locomotor mode. Thanks to everyone that got this over the line ❤️ doi.org/10.11646/megataxa.11…

Should've happened a while ago, but I'm saying goodbye now to this burning train being driven headlong into oblivion by a world-destroying, wannabe-fascist little man-child. Come join me where the sky is Blue and my handle is the same as here xo

You mean mass redundancies, the evisceration of entire disciplines, rampant managerialism, and the fanatic embrace of a profit-driven model of scholarship haven't fostered a climate of open inquiry and big ideas? Who could've known?! 🤷‍♂️ theguardian.com/australia-ne…

Heck, when you see it all lined up like that... it's absolutely as bad as it seems.

Lots to digest in this piece - well worth 5 mins of your time to read. Though grim, the original study puts tangible numbers on the utterly shit situation that so many PhD grads postdocs are finding themselves in right now 😔

The description of the skull of Genyornis newtoni, a giant anseriform, is finally out, tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.… after years of work, this skull has revealed so much more about this bird and its relatives than we could have hoped for. @Blokoweka and Trevor Worthy

Very honoured to have been a contributing scientist to the new #megafauna documentary by @ABCaustralia which is now live on #ABCiview. The production team and the scientists are wonderful. Very highly recommend watching the new series Megafauna: what killed Australia's giants?

Back from the trip of a lifetime to #papuanewguinea, 2 weeks in the Bulolo area digging for #fossils in the Pliocene Otibanda Formation. Thankyou to @MuseumPNG, & to the welcoming & generous people in Saksak village for trusting us with your place & knowledge, we'll be back soon!

The best thing about digging in PNG is you never do it alone. We owe just about every fossil we found to our good mates at Saksak
