Fair assessment @Rupper17, but here's something to look at:
Out of Matthew Schaefer's 29 points at 5-on-5 this season more than half (16) of those came with Barzal on the ice, 1st among NYI forwards. All situations Barzal is also 1st.
The mentioned linemates in this clip, we have to be honest about the quality of players we're asking him to prop up. As shown with Schaefer, get Barzal someone good to play with, he does make them better!
I honestly can't believe how much 13 defense I've done recently, but these narratives are killing me.

The Islanders have reassigned D Jesse Pulkkinen from Worcester (ECHL) to Bridgeport. (Per @AHLIslanders)
Pulkkinen, NYI’s 2024 second-round pick, has 18 points (9G, 9A) in 36 games this season in Worcester.
The move follows the Luke Rowe suspension, with Bridgeport down to just six eligible defensemen.

Matthew Highmore on how his linemates (Eiserman & Luff) have adapted to the Bridgeport defensive system:
“I think it’s been good, and it’s getting better. Whenever you change a system or move up a level—like Eisey (Eiserman)—there’s always going to be an adjustment period. There’s been a lot of communication on the bench, but overall, I think it’s going well. Everyone’s fitting in, and we’re only going to keep improving down the stretch.
Highmore added:
“I’m playing with smart players, and smart players communicate. When you’re talking on the ice, it makes everything easier. I think the communication has been good, and it’ll only continue to improve.”
