I feel like X made quite some changes to their algorithm throughout the last months. Some things that used to work well for me no longer seem to cut it.
One of those things is threads.
Is the following content really so shitty or is it just the algorithm trying to punish me for not having used a long-form post? π
Anyway... I'll give it a second try with this post, and depending on performance & feedback, I might stop publishing long-form stuff on X entirely... π
Here we go:
For most people, posting on X every day is a daunting task. (Myself included. πββοΈ)
That's why I created a dedicated "X Content Creation System". Steal it here. ππ§΅
The system consists of 4 components:
1. Outputs
2. Inputs
3. Policies
4. Tactics
Let's go through them one by one.
Outputs
---------
Let's start by defining the desired outputs of the content system.
For me, they currently look like this:
β’ 2 "normal" posts every single day. These can be personal statements, resources to learn more about Web3 dev/sec, etc.
β’ 1 new post in the "ultralearning" thread (see pinned post on my profile).
β’ 1 new post for my
#100DaysOfCode challenge.
Besides these 4 daily posts, I want to engage with my audience in the comments and DMs. Also, I want to engage with more popular X accounts to "appear on their radar".
These activities are not bound by a specific, measurable output but rather a daily input. (See below.)
The last output I aim for is *one* larger piece of content *every week*.
This can either be:
β’ a thread
β’ an X space
β’ a guest gig on a podcast that I can share with my X audience (If you're a podcast host, hit me up. π)
Inputs
-------
To accomplish these tasks, I'll set aside:
β’ 25 min *every day* to write the daily posts for
#100DaysOfCode and the "ultralearning" thread. Any remaining time will be used to reply to comments/DMs or to comment under the posts of other accounts.
β’ 2.5 h *per week* to batch-write the 14 "normal" tweets for the next week and write a thread / host an X space (or co-host a podcast).
Policies
--------
My north-star checklist to ensure I stay on track:
β’ Repurpose content often.
β’ No more than 2 spaces/podcasts per month. (Long-form content for the remaining weeks needs to be a thread.)
β’ No design-heavy posts or threads. In particular, no CodeSnap.
β’ If the daily 25 min doesn't suffice to reply to all comments/DMs, they must wait until the next day.
β’ If the weekly 2.5 h doesn't suffice, trash everything unfinished and ensure you're faster next time. No excuses.
β’ No X before 2 pm.
β’ Focus solely on X. No LinkedIn, no YouTube, no IG, no Lens, nothing. Just X.
Tactics
--------
Finally, let's talk about some specific tactics I'll use to guarantee maximum productivity.
1. Batch-produce and schedule the 14 "normal" posts and the space-prep / thread in one sitting of 2.5 h using
@hypefury.
2. Spontaneous ideas are *never* posted immediately. Instead, they're collected in my note-taking app and used during the weekly "batch production".
3. Out of my 14 "normal" posts/week, 3 need to link to my newsletter sign-up page to get more e-mail subscribers for my 3Blocks newsletter.
4. The daily X sessions are time-bound by *an actual 25 min timer* that rings once the time is up. "I'll just keep an eye on the clock" is not permitted. Same goes for the weekly 2.5 h sessions.
All right, that's about it!
