Wrapping up my time in Turkey. 🇹🇷
One clear difference from the broader Asian sentiment: the bear market here carries much lighter pessimism. The ecosystem feels more trading-oriented — especially perpetual futures traders and on-chain memecoin hunters. --- so the vibe stays more opportunistic than despairing. 🫡
AI-related anxiety also feels noticeably milder than in Asia right now — more like the early “anxiety awakening” stage we saw around February. 😹Narratives around compute power and AI DePIN still have strong resonance, driven by logistics and geopolitical realities.(mac mini is sold at a very high price here.)
From a marketing perspective, Turkey is a battlefield for exchanges, but early-stage project branding here can be tough. Language barriers and local network gaps make solo entry risky — thorough DD is essential.
I’ve been thinking about regional growth strategies for different types of Web3 projects:
• Trading-focused projects (high-frequency trading or pure token growth plays) may find better initial traction in parts of the Middle East & North Africa by leveraging Turkey as a cultural and logistical bridge, thanks to shared cultural and religious affinities as well as existing business networks.
• Projects aiming for ordinary user growth have a more complex dynamic: Turkey connects to the Asian continent and can influence Europe to some extent, but European markets tend to exert stronger influence back on Turkey. So for non-region-specific user growth plays, a combined Europe Turkey approach might actually be smarter than going Turkey alone.
During my visit, I noticed that offices of OKX TR, Bybit TR, and Coin TR are clustered in the very close area — even OKX and Bybit are located in the same building. For those CEX in Turkey, need to fight with local players like BtcTurk, acquiring new users remains the heaviest KPI. Interestingly, MEXC appears to be gaining significant ground; many users are arbitraging new-user subsidies from other platforms and moving to MEXC because it offers zero fees across the entire site in Turkey.
Another observation: even though major platforms like Binance and OKX offer US stock trading features, it hasn’t generated much excitement among Turkish users
Still learning — this is just my current observation on the ground. Happy to discuss and refine with others who have experience in these markets.
also met many friends in Turkey who are focused on growth,
@Hasannuysal @coinmuhendisi @aymandefi @BadlandYW @KontonNFT @NikkiSixx_7 @EmreAksitkutay @ClaireJRennie and
@CryptaCobra It is hoped that this can assist more project parties in the growth of the Turkish and global markets.
