The #JCG's training vessel #Itsukushima departed on Sunday, 6/7 after a short but meaningful port call in Honolulu.
We hope that the cadets were able to take away a lot from their experiences and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome them back to Hawaiʻi in the future.

During the port call of the #JapanCoastGuard training vessel #Itsukushima in Honolulu, Captain Mizoguchiand Consul General CHOTOKU co-hosted a reception onboard on June 4, welcoming members of the US Coast Guard, local Hawaii community and many other people.
Consul General Chotoku met with VADR Sawai, the Superintendent of the Japan Coast Guard Academy and CAPT Mizoguchi. Also, he delivered a welcome speech to the cadets.

The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) Training vessel ITSUKUSHIMA arrived in Honolulu yesterday bringing with its cadets. The ship was welcomed by many local people who were excited to see it arrive in Hawaiʻi.
This week DKI APCSS was honored to welcome RADM Yukiyasu Sawai, superintendent of the Japan Coast Guard Academy ( @@JCG_academy1 ), and RADM Gregory C. Rothrock, superintendent of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy ( @uscgacademy). They were briefed on Center priorities and programs, met with Japanese Fellows currently attending the Comprehensive Security Cooperation course, and discussed future opportunities for educational engagement and exchanges to leverage the U.S.-Japan Alliance and advance #deterrence in the #IndoPacific. Also in attendance were members from the Japan Consul Generals office in Honolulu ( @CGJapanHNL ) and the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo ( @usembassytokyo ). @uscg#USJapanAlliance
