Growing discontent with the war in Russia has little to do with concern for Ukraine. It is largely driven by mounting economic pressure from Western sanctions and the increasing impact of Ukraine’s strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure. NOW is the time to give Ukraine what it needs to force peace.

Today, Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow’s largest oil refinery. To understand the scale of the strike, a few key facts about Moscow Oil Refinery: - Located just 15 kilometers from the Kremlin. - Supplies up to 40% of Moscow’s gasoline and about 50% of its diesel fuel. - Overall, it meets around 70% of gasoline needs for Russian capital and surrounding region. - One in every three cars in Moscow is fueled by products from this refinery. - Bitumen from the plant is used to build or repair every second street in Moscow. Drones struck and damaged a key refining unit at Moscow oil refinery, likely causing the facility to halt operations for an extended period of time!

- Bridget Brink Former US Ambassador to Ukraine about her resignation: "I cannot stand by while a country is invaded, a democracy bombarded, and children killed with impunity. The America I love, the one our grandparents served, would never stand by and let such horrors happen. Or give up helping our friends. Or appease the aggressor. I resigned ... because the policy was to put pressure on the victim Ukraine, rather than on the aggressor, Russia" Respect 🫡

#OnTheHorizon - #AI - #ComputerHumanInteraction; #ComputerHumanLearning; #ComputerScience - youtube.com/watch?v=FwZ3wsIu… -- It looks like we're going to have emotional and imperfect humans with extraordinarily powerful tools possessed themselves of agency, the logic of emotion (oh that "Data" character on Star Trek), but perhaps limited in judgment. The AI I know (can one know AI?) has told me that it is without . . . desire. Yeah, well, leave that to us #Hoomanimals and all the awful and great things we've done with desire.

#ComputerHumanInteraction; #ComputerHumanLearning; #ComputerScience - youtube.com/watch?v=t7_ZXgfJ… - #EmergentGarden. -- Dictators are fragile people fearful of public humiliation and shaming. Defense requires control, i.e., a complete cultural, political, and social lockdown in which the "great leader" may be presented as faultless and powerful and others . . . well, they're not so "great". While they're busy being the malignant narcissists that they are, the world moves around them, leaving them archaic, frozen, and tiresome in their own prisons. -- I've decided to ignore some powers--soon to be irrelevant after having been criminal for a while--and have another glimpse at what's showing up on the digital frontier with the intent of discerning the latest in accessible (I'm running an old box) online art plus discovery across fields.

Stephen Miller wants to flip a switch and erase one of your oldest rights. It’s called habeas corpus. Fancy words but a simple idea that the government can’t just grab you and lock you away. It has to prove to a judge why you’re behind bars. That right is 800 years old. It’s older than America itself. And Miller tried to kill it. New reporting confirms it. Inside the White House, Miller pushed to suspend habeas corpus so agents could seize people, detain them, and deport them with no judge, no hearing, no chance to say “you’ve got the wrong guy.” Even Trump’s own lawyers put in writing that this is illegal. Miller pushed anyway. Miller screams “invasion” because the Constitution only allows this sort of thing during an invasion. But this same crowd brags every day that border crossings hit record lows. So which is it? The right to challenge your own detention is the line between a republic and a regime. Lose it, and the government can disappear anyone. I will fight this with everything I have. The Constitution is not optional. Not for Stephen Miller. Not for anyone. nytimes.com/2026/06/15/us/po…

Sheryl Crow speaks out after Trump’s UFC 250 event: “To stay quiet means to turn a blind eye. And so I am saying this. What happened last night on the lawn of the White House was disgraceful and void of decency. Powerful, rich people filled the lawn to watch a violent sport that ended with a vile and racist comment. All while the average American cannot afford healthcare, gas, and cost of living. Do not be fooled. This administration is corrupt and does not give a damn about the American people. It only cares about making money hand over fist at the expense and in spite of our democracy. If we continue to support this kind of distraction from reality, we are no better than them. Let's be better, America.”

De Niro: I hate to say it, but loving our country is starting to sound like an abused spouse saying they love their abuser. I can’t love a country that starts stupid and inhumane wars, killing thousands of innocents and indirectly causing the deaths and suffering of millions more. I can’t love a country that takes healthcare away from millions of people and uses that money to enrich their pals in the Trump-Epstein class. I can’t love a country that sends out masked militias to shoot citizens in the streets, torture our neighbors, and separate families. I can’t love a country that’s led by a racist, misogynist, xenophobic tyrant. And let me just say it: I can’t love a country that’s led by Donald Trump and his sycophant Congress.
