🇺🇸 🇵🇸 Sama Safi, a 20-year-old American citizen and honors psychology student at Birzeit University, remains in Israeli detention after soldiers seized her from her family’s home near Ramallah at 3 a.m. on June 2, with lawmakers warning her life is at risk. Safi, whose family lives in Florida, was taken without charge and transferred to Ofer prison, then to the Moscovia interrogation center in Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society. Her family says she has a chronic condition that causes fevers up to 105°F and requires daily medication and a quarterly injection she travels abroad to receive. She was one of five Palestinian women detained that week, including two members of the Palestinian women’s national football team. The Israeli military said the women were suspected of “promoting terrorist activities.” Rep. Rashida Tlaib and Sen. Chris Van Hollen have both demanded her release. “I am really sick and tired of the Israeli government taking American taxpayer dollars and then mistreating Americans,” Van Hollen said. Israel has not told her family or the U.S. embassy where she is being held. Rep. Tlaib said, “Her life is at risk—our government must free her now!”

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya should never have been kidnapped by Israeli forces in Gaza and imprisoned without charge. Reports that he has now been placed in solitary confinement while continuing to be held without due process are deeply disturbing and raise even more urgent concerns about his welfare and basic human rights. Congress must demand his immediate release and insist that Israel end the arbitrary detention, abuse, and mistreatment of Palestinian medical professionals and civilians. The international community cannot remain silent while a respected physician is reportedly subjected to harsh conditions, denied adequate medical care, and isolated from the outside world without any legal justification. Dr. Abu Safiya must be released immediately.
BREAKING: Israel has moved Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, from a Negev detention centre to solitary confinement in Nafha prison. đź”´ LIVE updates: aje.news/d1okw8

Our government is supplying Israel with white phosphorus bombs that melt human flesh to the bone. These bombs are targeting civilians, schools, hospitals, and places of worship. The U.S. must end its complicity in these war crimes, and pass the Lebanon War Powers Resolution.

Israeli authorities have transferred detained Gaza doctor Hussam Abu Safiya to solitary confinement at Nafha Prison after his legal team challenged the extension of his detention, according to his lawyer. The lawyer says the June 3 transfer was punitive and has left Abu Safiya without necessary medical treatment. Healthcare Workers Watch says at least 83 Palestinian healthcare workers are currently being held by Israel, including 75 from Gaza.

🚨 NEW: UN report details rape, gang rape and genital violence against Palestinian detainees by Israeli forces The UN Secretary-General’s report submitted to the Security Council verifies 31 victims of sexual violence linked to Israeli forces in 2025 — against 14 men, seven women, nine children and one girl — across detention facilities in Gaza and the West Bank, according to Haaretz, which said it had reviewed the report. Key Details: 🔸“Violations consisted of rape, including with objects, gang rape, attempted rape, physical violence to the genitals, instances of targeted shooting of the genitals, touching of breasts and genitals, strip and cavity searches conducted without apparent security justification, forced nudity and threats of rape,” the report said. 🔸 9 victims, most of them Gaza residents, were subjected to rape and gang rape — in some cases repeatedly. Men and boys were allegedly subjected to rape or attempted rape and violence to the genitals, “resulting in five male victims suffering severe rectal bleeding or swelling for multiple days or weeks and, in some cases, without receiving medical treatment.” 🔸 The report named the IDF, Israeli Prison Service and Border Police Counter Terrorism Unit as responsible. Facilities cited include Sde Teiman, Etzion, and prisons Megiddo, Ofer, Ramla, HaSharon, Shatta, Nafha and Damon. 🔸 The UN said its findings likely reflect only part of a broader pattern, citing Israel’s continued denial of access to detention facilities and explicit threats against detainees to coerce them not to report abuse. 🔗 Full report below.

🚨🇺🇸 Two former Israeli Air Force commanders, Amir Eshel and Amikam Norkin, are set to attend the Jerusalem Post Conference in New York tomorrow. The #HindRajabFoundation has urged NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani to repudiate their presence, warning that those accused of grave crimes against Palestinians should not be welcomed as dignitaries in New York City, the United States, or anywhere except a courtroom.

Belgian sailor and Global Sumud Flotilla volunteer Arno Meyns says he suffered fractured ribs and a collapsed lung after Israeli forces illegally seized a Gaza-bound aid vessel in international waters and kidnapped those on board. Meyns described being transferred to a makeshift prison ship where detainees were stripped of most of their clothing, deprived of basic necessities and subjected to systematic violence and humiliation. He said passengers were kept disoriented, forced to keep their heads down, constantly abused, and denied any understanding of where they were being taken. Meyns said the violence escalated once he was taken into a container aboard the prison ship. He said guards repeatedly kicked him for an extended period, continuing until he could barely breathe. The assault left him with fractured ribs and a collapsed lung, injuries from which he is still recovering. He described conditions aboard the ship as degrading and punitive, with detainees denied pain medication despite injuries and forced to endure flooded floors and poor sanitation. Meyns also alleged that guards deliberately stepped on detainees in an apparent attempt to break bones and appeared intent on causing further harm. His testimony adds to a growing number of accounts from international Gaza solidarity volunteers, many of whom have reported rape, beatings, tasering, stress positions, humiliating strip searches, sexual abuse, groping, threats, degrading treatment and other allegations of inhumane treatment aboard the makeshift prison ship.

Harvard Medical School graduate Leen Ezzeddine of Lebanon highlighted in her speech the unequal “luck and circumstance” between students in Gaza, southern Lebanon, and her peers. She described her presence as proof of survival beyond borders, war, and exile, and of what becomes possible when people are given the chance to live.
