Ancient woodlands aren’t a blocker. Wildlife isn’t a hindrance. Chalk streams aren’t anti-growth. Our wildlife is on the brink - one in six species faces extinction. These species help define who we are as a nation - we won’t get a second chance to save them.

I counted 30 dead Whooper Swans at lunch today at Welney due to avian flu, and yet still the WWT decide to feed them to entertain visitors - on a pool with 6 floating corpses and 2 visibly ill swans. NOT good conservation. @WWTworldwide @DefraGovUK

Attracting the swans into human food will surely increase disease transmission, particularly given the food is being offered right next to dead bodies and actively diseased birds! Wardens I raised my concerns to were deeply unhelpful and passed the buck.

2025 was a record breeding season for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker nests monitored by our volunteers. None failed & where we were able to check the nest contents the number of chicks fledged was the highest since we started the project in 2015. Full story woodpecker-network.org.uk

Clip I took yesterday of my favourite bird - wood warbler. They’re not flashy but so charming and the sound of spring and home to me. Enormous recent UK decline so just a wee reminder to enjoy your favourite bits of nature when you can, you never know when you’ll see them again!

This from @CSkidmoreUK . Honest , true , bold and credible . It’s tragic that a minister with such passion for positive change is forced to demonstrate their integrity by resigning - just when we need them most . I met with him recently - I was impressed and now more so . Please RT

Future generations have no hope of a liveable planet if this is the kind of “leadership” we have. Each passenger’s emissions to attend a climate event was almost equal to the average Britons entire annual carbon footprint. Shameful.
Rishi Sunak took a 200 seater private jet to Cop28, he could have taken more than half the Conservative Party, but he didn't even take Cameron who had his own jet, as did King Charles. Even worse he then spent longer on his plane than at the summit.

🚨 BREAKING: Rishi Sunak tells world leaders at global climate talks that “the UK is leading the charge” on climate action. But his government is currently IGNORING THE SCIENCE and licensing new climate wrecking North Sea oil & gas. What on earth is so world leading about that?
