Bill C-22 creates a front door, not a back door, to Canadian's data, and it gives the keys to the government and does so in secret. These are just some of the reasons I opposed Bill C-22 today, at least in it's current form. Watch below. My thanks to @privacylawyer, @mgeist, @robertdiab, the @CDNConstFound and others for their analysis and advocacy which greatly informed my remarks. I remain open to reviewing and considering proposals for lawful access.

The Prime Minister was in Ireland. Travel is fine, but Canadians expect results from these trips. So, why did a Canadian tech company just pick Ireland over Canada for its next major investment?

Great to attend the Men Ending Trafficking Annual Summer BBQ and recognize the incredible work of John Cassells, many coalition partners, and grassroots organizations working to combat human trafficking across our communities and country. Their advocacy in Ottawa last fall was impactful, including the distribution of their book to all 448 parliamentarians (MPs and Senators) to help raise awareness and drive action on this critical issue. Thank you for your leadership and dedication.

Last year, the US blocked imports of Giant brand bicycles because of forced labour concerns. But Giant bicycles are widely available in Canada; were they made with forced labour? I asked.

We have no idea if goods made by forced labour are entering Canada because the Liberal government refused to make the data public, why?

🚨BREAKING!!!🚨 After repeatedly denying Conservative efforts to invite the Privacy Commissioner to testify about his recommendations on Bill C-22, the Liberals now say the bill “has nothing to do with the privacy of people and their personal information.” 🤯

The United Way reports today that 57% of Canadians believe public finances are performing poorly, and two-thirds are worried about the economic outlook. Canadians don’t seem to believe in the job the Prime Minister is doing today and aren't buying his promises for the future either. The United Way's report is a wake-up call that Liberal policies have real consequences for Canadians.

The United Way today quantified the feeling that Canadians have right now: things just aren't great. 9 in 10 Canadians are experiencing financial anxiety and CTV reports fully employed Canadians are now living in campers just to survive. It's a made-in-Canada problem. We are remain the only G20 economy in recession. Mexico? No recession. Even Russia, no recession? See below. 👇

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Ontario Provincial Police Provincial Constable Tarun Bali. Today, we join our policing partners across Ontario in mourning the loss of a dedicated officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving his community. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this heartbreaking loss. We honour his service, courage and commitment, and will never forget his sacrifice. #heroesinlife

The Liberals just opposed our offer to split Bill C-22 into two. With amendments, Part 1 of Bill C-22 might yet be saved. This was a reasonable offer to salvage their dumpster fire of a bill.

Great to walk with my Conservative colleagues @annarobertsmp, @MelissaLantsman, and @Roman_Baber to support our Jewish community in Canada.

Lest we forget. 🇨🇦 Honoured to stand with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 356 to mark the anniversary of D-Day, remembering the ultimate sacrifices made on the shores of Juno Beach. It was a profound privilege to spend the day alongside 101-year-old veteran Jim Park. At just 19, Jim landed in the very first assault wave with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, swimming ashore under heavy fire to help liberate Europe. Standing next to him is a reminder of what true heroism looks like. We walk free today because of what his generation gave. 🍁 #DDay #Remembrance #JunoBeach #RoyalCanadianLegion #CanadaRemembers #LestWeForget

Wonderful day in Keswick celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Loretto Maryholme Spirituality Centre. For a quarter of a century, this beautiful sanctuary has been a place of peace, reflection, and community. Congratulations to the Loretto Sisters on 25 years of beautiful stewardship, community, and grace.

A totally voluntary statement from the CEO of @windscribecom. Very important to listen to his entirely truthful government approved message. Remember only the government has the truth, 2 2=5.

SHOCKING The Liberals blocked my request for the Privacy Commissioner of Canada to attend the Public Safety Committee in our attempt to fix Mark Carney’s overreaching surveillance Bill C-22. Not a good day for privacy rights in Canada.

How do you know the government is uninterested in the privacy risks of Bill C-22? The Liberal MPs on the Public Safety committee just voted against multiple motions to invite the Privacy Commissioner of Canada to committee to answer questions on potential amendments.

One of these G20 economies is NOT like the others...one doesn't belong. Can you guess which one? Hint: it's the only one currently in a recession.

The @USTradeRep finds Canada is failing to enforce its import ban on goods produced by forced labour. I agree. We investigated this at the trade committee and @CanBorder is clearly lagging, also refused to answer many of our questions or even provide basic enforcement data.

The proposed action is a broad based 10% tariff. The Liberals rightly agreed to the import ban at the request of the US in the NAFTA renegotiation but then in typical fashion did almost nothing for the past six years.
