My latest in @Medscape: Seems that one by one the fear mongered risks about GLP1s get disproven. No increased suicide risk, no thyroid cancer risk, no blindness risk. But the loudest these days is the muscle loss risk. Well guess what? /1

None who work at UofA should be remotely surprised by this.
New documents show while the University of Alberta was under mass budget cuts that resulted in layoffs and a 100% cut to child care funding, the president was spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on travel Expenses have doubled since he took office thegatewayonline.ca/2026/01/…

Sarcopenia is real, and important in many elderly. The exaggeration’s and misinformation surrounding i)the magnitude of the problem and ii)benefits of unproven solutions in the context of GLP-1 medicines are also real. Keep calm, carry on, and remain data driven #weightlloss

Heartbroken by the passing of Jim. He was a big part of my training as a graduate student in Brosnan lab at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He was a great scientist and even better person.
We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. James House, Professor and MB Strategic Research Chair in Sustainable Protein. His work on plant and animal-based proteins and his mentorship of 100 students and fellows leave a lasting legacy at UM: news.umanitoba.ca/rememberin… #UManitoba
