I’ll always stand with our students and defend their right to think, read, and learn freely. When parents and librarians raised the alarm about wrongful censorship, we refused to stay silent. Together with @senatormckenney we sent a clear message: in Rhode Island, we stand for freedom, not censorship.

As Mayor, I’m committed to working with the city council to pass and enforce rent stabilization, so rent increases are capped at 4% per year for our neighbors. Alongside rent stabilization, we need to: stabilize property taxes, stop the corporate takeover of our neighborhoods, and adopt a public developer model to build truly affordable housing.

I’m a proud Jew. No one will ever take that from me. But every day when I look in the mirror I think to myself how we, the People of the Book, can somehow defend this unkempt slaughter. How can I wear a Magen David when a plane with that symbol is bombing children. Daily.
Those tears w/ Adam Friedland are real. I experience these feelings too. Thousands of other young Jews feel the same. Despicable that the only place we see these feelings explicated is in a comedy show hosted by a dude from a podcast named “Cum Town”

A win for workers’ rights! 🦾 Council President Rachel Miller (Ward 13) celebrates the dismissal of all $500 noise citations levied against striking Butler workers, following months of sustained pressure from Council leadership. “Earlier this week, we celebrated the ratification of a contract that meaningfully improves their lives. Today, we welcome the reversal of unjust noise citations that should never have been issued. $500 fines could not quiet the striking workers, whose tenacity and solidarity led directly to a strong new contract. When the City punished workers for raising their voices, we raised ours, and I’m happy today to see the penalties dropped.” said Miller.

Today, @DavidMoralesRI, @ConcernedRIer and Rep. Scott Slater hosted a legislative briefing on urgent solutions to address rising utility costs and to protect medically vulnerable households from disconnections. The event featured a panel discussion that included Charlie Harak, senior attorney at the National Consumer Law Center; Elizabeth Marx, executive director at the Pennsylvania Utility Law Project; and representatives from the George Wiley Center. They discussed legislative proposals that stabilize utility costs, prevent harmful shut-offs and reduce state expenditures related to emergency services and housing displacement.
