Louisiana GOP Sen. Jay Morris ran unopposed in 2023 and is now able to: a) block a New Orleans folk hero from taking office b) gut a majority-Black Congressional district c) personally profit by selling Louisiana for parts to Mark Zuckerberg, thanks to his own legislation

The scene inside the Senate & Governmental Affairs Committee room after the feed was cut off and the hearing recessed. This all followed the exchange between State Senators Gary Carter and Jay Morris. louisianafirstnews.com/news/… #lagov #lalege #Louisiana @LAFirstNews
Tense exchange between State Senators Gary Carter and Jay Morris during the Senate & Governmental Affairs hearing on redistricting. Morris has three maps before the committee, one removes both Black Congressional districts, and two remove one. Morris also authored the bill that eliminated the clerk of court position in Orleans Parish. The exchange forced the hearing into a recess. #lagov #lalege #Louisiana #YLEH @LAFirstNews

Holding this hearing in Room F, one of the smallest committee rooms in the capitol, is an interesting choice for a hearing with such immense public interest. Historically redistricting hearings have been held in the largest room available. #lalege #lagov

Unusually hot in the Louisiana Capitol today (AC is usually blowing pretty hard), and the cafeteria is shut down (overheard someone saying that they were told by staff “we don’t want to feed all these people”). Lots of folks showing up to speak out for fair maps, regardless

A child has died from a flu infection in Louisiana. Under @LAGovJeffLandry, the state has stopped doing mass flu vaccinations and the rate of children who have received flu vaccines is lower than the country's. Story from @emily_woodruff_ #lalege nola.com/news/healthcare_hos…

Not an exclusive. New Orleans-based Jambalaya News, a Spanish-speaking outlet, had this first, hours ago: facebook.com/JambalayaNewsLA…

#EXCLUSIVE What started as a what Border Patrol says was a “consensual encounter” turned unstable very quickly in the New Orleans area. Border Patrol approached several men working on a roof—Some of them ran, others pulled up ladders to prevent agents from apprehending them. At one point one of the confirmed illegal immigrants dumped a bucket of nails towards agents and wielded scrap metal displaying what the agency calls pre-assaultive indicators. One illegal immigrant was taken into custody. The two on the roof who refused to come down are now considered targets. This as @DHSgov says assaults and attacks on federal law enforcement are up more than 1,150% when compared to last year. This all comes as the governor says he welcomes the federal presence. It’s important to note that BP and ICE have been operating here for decades—It is a coastal border after all.

A reminder of what Clay Higgins posted when Paul Pelosi was brutally attacked by an intruder looking to do harm to Nancy. nola.com/news/politics/clay-…
I’m going to use Congressional authority and every influence with big tech platforms to mandate immediate ban for life of every post or commenter that belittled the assassination of Charlie Kirk. If they ran their mouth with their smartass hatred celebrating the heinous murder of that beautiful young man who dedicated his whole life to delivering respectful conservative truth into the hearts of liberal enclave universities, armed only with a Bible and a microphone and a Constitution… those profiles must come down. So, I’m going to lean forward in this fight, demanding that big tech have zero tolerance for violent political hate content, the user to be banned from ALL PLATFORMS FOREVER. I’m also going after their business licenses and permitting, their businesses will be blacklisted aggressively, they should be kicked from every school, and their drivers licenses should be revoked. I’m basically going to cancel with extreme prejudice these evil, sick animals who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination. I’m starting that today. That is all.
