#CoerciveControl often involves isolating the victim from friends, family, and support systems, making it harder for them to leave the abusive relationship.
Financial dependence and concerns about custody of children can also act as barriers.

About one in twelve teens has experienced dating violence (CDC, 2019). However, the actual number is likely higher due to many people being afraid to report their partner’s unhealthy behaviors or not knowing that the things they are experiencing are gender-based violence.
