2/2 My mother always said she knew where I was when the house was quiet. I was in an armchair, reading. Children devour knowledge but, despite what many would have you believe, by reading more, they develop critical skills. Reading doesn’t brainwash you. It liberates you.

For me, libraries are sacred spaces. I borrowed weekly in Dún Laoghaire. I’d say school was about 40% of my education. The rest was split between a set of encyclopaedias my folks paid off on tick (I still have them 😌) and books about art, architecture, movies, and so on. 1/2

I was so perturbed hearing about the treatment of @DisabilityFed campaigner Carolyn Akintola as she travelled to Brussels to represent people with disabilities, I had to bring it to the chamber floor yesterday evening.

"My father came from Ballybricken. In Waterford, this meant that you came from the heart of the ancient city, designated Urbs Intacta by Henry VIII, with its long connections to livestock fairs, pig dealing, John Redmond and the Irish Parliamentary Party." Next, Peter Cunningham

A social enterprise called #renew is a fantastic service to the #community in Waterford, providing up cycling and maintenance to give materials a second life. Go in and check them out in Johnstown #Waterford City. @WaterfordCounci

An elderly woman has lost her phone most likely in the area of Mulgannon Hill in #Wexford Phone wouldn’t be worth much, but she’s quite upset at losing all her numbers etc. Any Good Samaritan out there come across it? 🙏
