It's wild that in the richest country in the world, every winter, we have to scramble to make sure people don't freeze to death when they sleep outside. And still, we know many will die.
Instead, we could solve homelessness with housing and support.
Boggles my mind every year.

A woman living on the streets asked us for a wheelchair today.
The city has a program, but they will only give her one a year.
But the city fully funds the police and sanitation that throw away all of her belongings every week.
It's all so stupidly cruel.

I have. I've met people with down syndrome, cancer, MS, alzheimers, paraplegics - all living on the streets.
They die.
Very soon after they stop being able to access medical care, people with disabilities on the streets just die.

I don’t disagree with your take here but in the grand scheme of things I was just such a minuscule player and the rulers of our world are the ones who have to make the change
Maybe I’m so frustrated because even for me I feel powerless in helping people
But the difference is I was a 16 year old kid trying to make money for my family after seeing my dad lose it all - I became addicted to making money so I wouldn’t see him cry like that
I wasn’t wise enough to see my impact on a grand scale etc.
I’d leave that to 50-60 year olds
The only thing that helped me awake was psychedelics
I too have been apart of the problem and I too wasn’t “smart” or awake at that point
It took a lot of work to change into who I am
But now
You people think I sit here and tweet from a perfect place. That’s not it.
I just see the biggest problem we face and am passionate about changing it. Maybe you can understand me more with saying that?

At some point we all played a numbers game. At some point we each engaged in some sort of calculus of human life, “well, now it’s just the immunocompromised and the elderly at risk, so it’s not as bad as it was before the vaccines rolled out—those people can be sacrificed.”

Most leftist anti-maskers think they are annoyed by the masking-left but actually are mad at material reality. I also wish it wasn't airborne, there wasn't asymptomatic spread, and that vaccines offered sufficient prevention of transmission. But wishing that doesn't make it so.
