Even as Ramstein Flag continues at full scale, NATO Allied air forces remain ready to respond to real-world events at a moment's notice. Portuguese 🇵🇹 F-16s and French 🇫🇷 Rafale fighters were scrambled on separate occasions as part of NATO Air Policing missions over the Baltic region. Just before the weekend, @fap_pt F-16s conducted an interception to identify and monitor Russian 🇷🇺 aircraft operating near Baltic airspace, contributing to the security and surveillance of NATO's eastern flank. At the start of this week, @Armee_de_lair Rafales intercepted and identified an uncrewed aerial system (UAS) crossing into Latvian airspace from the east. Following identification and in accordance with established procedures, the drone was engaged and destroyed. The aircraft subsequently conducted an additional surveillance mission along the eastern border of the Baltic states. These missions highlight the readiness and vigilance of NATO Air Policing forces, demonstrating the Alliance's ability to train, deter and defend simultaneously. #NATO #BalticAirPolicing #RamsteinFlag

🇨🇿#Czechia: Aero Vodochody (@AERO_Vodochody), a Czech aircraft manufacturer and a subsidiary of Omnipol (@Omnipol1934), announced that it has delivered 14 new L-39 Skyfox training aircraft to customers in 2025. At the same time, contracts for the delivery of L-39 Skyfox aircraft to Africa and North America are expected to be finalized soon. Last year, revenue totaled CZK 6.5 billion (~$310 million), and profit rose by 402% to CZK 512 million (~$24.4 million).

Ukraine had expressed interest in purchasing four Czech L-159A Alca light attack aircraft; however, the Czech government decided against the sale, stating that they are still required by the Czech Air Force. Aero Vodochody noted that it can no longer manufacture new L-159A Alca aircraft because certain components are no longer available on the market. Instead, the company offered Ukraine its new L-39 Skyfox, which is already operated by 🇻🇳Vietnam, 🇭🇺Hungary, and the 🇨🇿Czech Aviation Training Center (CLV), where it is used to train Czech and allied pilots. Furthermore, at the end of last year during the Dubai Airshow 2025, Aero introduced a new version of this aircraft specifically designed for intercepting and shooting down drones (UAVs). The exhibited L-39 Skyfox (No. 0475) was equipped with two FN Herstal HMP-250 pods with a 12.7mm machine gun, two 7-round LAU-32 rocket pods capable of firing FZ275 LGR/RR or APKWS II, and an optoelectronic Phoenix pod from SiNAB Technologies. The Phoenix pod is used for JTAC training, but can be expanded with EW, CAS, and C-UAS functions. Compared to the L-159A Alca, the L-39 Skyfox offers lower operating costs. For the Ukrainian Air Force, the Skyfox would represent a modern, simple, and affordable platform - not only for basic pilot training but also for advanced training and C-UAV operations. The L-39 Skyfox is even certified for training pilots for the most advanced fighters, such as the F-35 Lightning II.
