So let me paint you a picture of the coming weeks: -Trump will call Putin, tell media a peace deal is very close -terms of peace deal turn out to be unacceptable for Ukraine -everybody panics, meanwhile Trump moves military forces to the Caribbean, nobody notices. -Zelensky rushes to European allies for crisis meeting -Americans push through on deal, Vance will make backhand comment about Ukraine for being "non-cooperative" or "ungrateful" -Television studios will broadcast back-to-back coverage of potential peace deal, round table discussions, live White House correspondents. -American troop build-up in Caribbean remains unnoticed, media prefers to cover comments from the Oval Office over massive troop movements. Until at last sometime by the end of summer: -Trump bombs Cuba, everyone surprised -Talking heads on TV: 'nobody saw this coming' -peace deal with Russia never mentioned again -repeat again sometime in the fall.
It is always important to coordinate positions. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Buttigieg: We sit in a in a country that's got the wrong number of people on the Supreme Court, possibly the wrong number of representatives in the House of Representatives. And by the way, when you consider the disenfranchisement of the people of DC, we have the wrong number of states in the United States

While I love the Biden's, and think Hunter Biden's posts are hilarious, the whole crypto booster thing turns me off. I'm so sick of the tech bro deluge that started with NFTs, moved to Crypto, and now is AI. Please just be cool without pushing shit.

CA Dems need to repeal this top two system if it doesn't come with RCV It's entirely dependent on fractured fields
Democrats are getting uncomfortably close to a potential lockout in CA-06, a district VoteHub rates Likely D. The late-counted ballot trail should help Pan stay in the top two, but this is far closer than Democrats would like.

The Pope is a great example of the idea that cruelty is actually dumb and that kindness and openness come from intelligence. A great juxtaposition to the (techno)fascists of our time. It takes a mind to create a better world, it takes zero to destroy it.
The Pope is very intelligent. I have to stop reading the encyclical, because I'm amazed by so much eloquence, intelligence, and care...

Connecting young people to digital networks serves no purpose if they remain disconnected from themselves, others, and their own interiority. We must help young people rediscover silence, reflection, the ability to ask questions, the depth of relationships, and openness to transcendence. To listen to the soul, we must lend an ear, because the soul's voice is not a shout, but a whisper.

Let us learn to be rich in a different way: more attentive to relationships, more intent on valuing the common good, more attached to the local area, more grateful in welcoming and integrating those who come to live with us.

Three weeks ago I wrote about how the Trump administration never clarified the political object of the war instead immediately sought to publicly claim success through target counts, degradation metrics, etc. Not only can't it substitute for strategy, but it's the exact thing that risks leading to defeat. But I wouldn't expect John to understand that, or at least admit to understanding that in public. Link in next tweet
No one can predict the future with certainty. No analyst possesses a crystal ball capable of forecasting whether the Islamic regime can survive the long-term political and economic consequences of this war. But based on every serious measure of national power, Iran is weaker today than before the conflict began. Its military has been shattered across multiple domains. Its economy is under severe strain. Its proxies are degraded. Its deterrence credibility has suffered. Its strategic ambitions have been rolled back. The United States and its partners still hold the upper hand because the foundations of Iranian power have been systematically reduced, and rebuilding them may take far longer than many observers are willing to admit."

I keep reading again and again – even from my own followers – that the presence or absence of antisemitic outbreaks supposedly depends on Israel’s actions. The war started by Russia costs the EU far more than the war in Iran. Much more. And it affects it far more directly. Yet for some reason, Russians aren’t systematically targeted – no one is going around burning Russian Orthodox churches or dousing Russian schools with kerosene. So spare me that argument. Acts of antisemitism need a pretext, not a real cause. Muslims are not targeted directly as often – because people are afraid. And, as usual, women bear the brunt, since they’re easy to identify by their headscarves. Otherwise, people just quietly make their lives more difficult whenever possible: they won’t rent them an apartment, they won’t hire them, etc So drop this narrative. If Jews were truly all-powerful rulers of the world, then Israel and Jews would be treated normally regardless of any wars. But no, that’s not how it works.

Wild that huge swathes of the American left have a huge problem with Pete Buttigieg's stint as a management consultant with McKinsey but not Graham Platner's work as a Blackwater mercenary.
