Utah is joining a national effort to help more children in state custody find safe, stable homes. Through A Home for Every Child and new legislation supporting youth in state custody, Utah is working with state and federal partners to improve outcomes and open doors for children preparing for adulthood. Thank you to the state and federal partners working to build more hope and opportunity for Utah’s children. @ACFHHS

The strongest communities are built closer to home, through families, local businesses, state leadership, and people who understand the unique needs of the communities they serve.

I recently published a new op-ed, “Less Washington, More America,” about the importance of local leadership, accountability, and keeping decision-making closer to the people.

The legislative session might be behind us, but this is where a lot of the real groundwork starts. During the interim, we’re meeting in committees, digging into the issues that matter most, and laying the foundation for what comes next.

Utah has stayed strong by focusing on long-term decisions: Keeping costs manageable, supporting growth, and protecting what’s working. These meetings are open to the public, whether you join in person or online.

I’ll be there continuing this work, and if something is impacting your life, I hope you’ll take the time to stay involved!

I had the opportunity recently to purchase the Historic Utah Governor Rolltop Desk that was used by Utah Governors from 1914 to 1948. It was manufactured by Henry Dinwoodey Furniture Company for the Utah State Capitol Governor’s Private Secretary Room.

It was used until 1948 by Governors Spry, Bamberger, Maybe, Dern, Blood, and Maw. After that it was acquired by the Attorney General & has been in private hands ever since. I decided after purchasing the desk that I would put it in our State Capitol building for Utahns to enjoy.

It was an honor to engage with organizations like the Cato Institute & Mercatus Center, as well as congressional leadership including Jodey Arrington, David Schweikert, Speaker of the U.S. House of Rep Mike Johnson, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and Senate ML John Thune.

A consistent message emerged: leaders in Washington are watching Utah closely, with genuine interest and respect. All eyes are on Utah.

Last week was a meaningful one in Washington, D.C. I joined colleagues from the Utah House and Senate for meetings at the White House and across Capitol Hill.

Electric bills here are about 30% lower than the national average, this is great news for Utah! For a lot of families, that’s money that stays in their pocket every month instead of going out the door. It may not be something we think about often, but it makes a real difference over time. Yesterday's @USDA announcement is a win for Utah and the west. Forest Service leadership is moving closer to the land, and the communities, it actually serves.

The United States Forest Service is moving its national headquarters to Utah! This is great news for our state and for the agency. This is a meaningful step that brings leadership closer to the lands and communities it serves. Many thanks to Governor Spencer J. Cox, Speaker Mike Schultz, President Stuart Adams, and the Administration for the work over the past several months to make this happen. Excited to see the positive impact this will have across Utah and beyond.

I was invited to speak by the Covey Center for Leadership at USU to spiring leaders from all colleges on campus on the leadership principle of empathy. I was thoroughly impressed by these students and cannot say enough good things about the work the Covey Center is doing.
