The only strawman argument about building the Knicks championship is I haven’t seen is “Everyone said the Knicks should move the franchise because they were never going to win a title”. But there have been some doozies out there.

The ATL Hawks won consecutive games against the Knicks April 20th & 23rd in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The Knicks lost one time in 51 days since then to win the NBA title, going 15-1 in that span.

I don’t believe Jaylen is a top ten player. Other may believe so, I don’t think he’d make this team a championship caliber team and that’s my criteria for that sort of cap and resources commitment.

The value is the team improving significantly. Adding a top 10 player in the NBA to the Hawks makes the Hawks better.

A lot of draft engine modeling, film, post-game press conference watching, available team interviews and offseason intel went into it. So, hate it or love it, I'll feel good about the process.
So, I couldn't bring myself to fully lean into the model based off of what I saw on film and how teams chose to defend certain players, but it definitely had an influence, and I will peer review it, nonetheless. Here is my t100.

Jaylen Brown is entering his Age 30 season. He is coming off a statistical outlier season that should not be overrated. He will get paid ~60M a season for the next three seasons. I get why Boston is cool with parting with him. I don’t see the value for the Hawks.

The Bucks would covet the No. 8 overall pick in a potential trade with the Hawks since they would likely be guaranteed one of the top guard prospects in the draft.
Milwaukee has shown a level of interest in Darius Acuff Jr., Mikel Brown Jr., Keaton Wagler, and Kingston Flemings.

The @TheSteinLine just did a rumor drop five hours ago and there was no Hawks rumor. Not that there couldn’t be any action in Atlanta, but Stein and @JakeLFischer don’t have one in that drop.

Those first two Willis Reed buckets were pretty huge, but that has to be right there. Knicks historians will chime in tonight, surely.
Mike Brown said he “challenged” OG Anunoby at shootaround this morning: I told OG as big, as strong, as athletic as he is, he’s gotta be a monster in the offensive glass tonight. I don’t know if there is a play bigger in the history of Knicks basketball.”

If they draft a big, I think they have to at least have Jock as a vet/rotational presence there. Less important to retain if they end up acquiring a rotational big through trade.

I really hope the Hawks and Jock Landale can agree on a new contract. It really felt like Jock had found a home until he was injured by an Orlando Magic cheap shot. Regardless of whom the Hawks draft, they need to go 4 deep at C, so they don't repeat 2/3 of a season playing small
