This is Jake the world's greatest Seeing Eye Dog. Working with him was like having Tesla FSD. I just told him where to go and he always got us there.

I've always been surprised at how revered this song is since it's basically making fun of a girl going through hard times, hitting bottom, and being mocked for her fall in social status. Was it called a classic because of the lyrics, or because Dylan had gone electric?

I believe X will always be dominated by those on the political extremes, both left and right because anyone who dares express an opinion with a moderate viewpoint is guaranteed to be insulted by those on the left, or right, or both. So the thought becomes, why bother?

Eating poorly cooked meat has always been an important social activity. In the original language, it was called "a barbecue." These social occasions began around the time of the invention of beer.

If you happen to run across a post from my wife giving the same warnings and admonitions, please ignoreher. We just have different concepts of the word "overweight". I am not a blimp; I am a human being!

For the best article ever about secretariat, find "pure heart" by William Knack, an article printed in sports illustrated and selected one of the best sports stories of the century. Great coverage of this race, plus his experience with secretariat prior to the racing career And his timing of being around when secretariat became ill and passed away. His coverage of the race almost makes you feel as though you were there cheering secretariat all the way.

Duane Allman's solo (first) on Blue Sky, studio version. It's not a traditional solo, but has so many variations on one theme it's always impressed me. It was off the top of his head and as far as I know he never played it that way again.

I can't believe the author left out the most powerful mathematics tool at the time that wass used by every engineer at JPL, NASA and anywhere higher math was required: The slide rule. But the most powerful tool involved here was one brain.

The actor selected by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas to play the part of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the lost Ark was… Tom Sellick. He had been offered the Part of Magnum, PI at the same time and decided on it instead. Two major careers began from that decision.

Bill Wyman from the Rolling Stones. He was integral in establishing the blues and rock sound that became the Stones' trademark. But he is rarely if ever mentioned by anyone, even when talking about important bass players in rock history.

So many people responded to my recommendation of "Pure Heart" by William Knack regarding his experience with Secretariat, I thought I would also recommend the book where I read the story. Sports Illustrated always had great writers, and this is by their best.

A fact I learned recently… More than 80% of the 300,000 planes built during World War II were flown from the manufacturers to domestic airfields by female pilots in the WASP Corps.. Women also flew many bombers and transport planes from the US to Europe during the war.

I hate to say this but Douglas and the other FBI agents who wrote books about their interviews with serial killers sometimes seemed like voyeurs, always trying to dig down into further perversion. They did succeed in finding out who some victims were, but not why they were victims. it was important work but at some point it seemed like they became proud they had gone down into the depths of human behavior and did not crack up. I'm not surprised they missed the point this woman made for them.

That little misidentification of the size of the hedgerows was more than just a little "Oopsie" and caused hundreds of deaths more than just the drones. Planners had believed they could go from field to field with infantry, but the Hedgerose were so high and so thick Each field became its own separate battleground because the Germans basically had little forts to protect them every step of the way. Only after many deaths and long delayed did a tanker figure out how to attach something to the front of his tank that allowed them to Plow through the trees and brush too allow the infantry into the next field, do it again to the next field and so on. British and Americans had been going to France for generations and the fact planners overlooked or forgot about the size of those hedgerows could have cost The entire war because it gave the Germans more time to bring in defenses.

everybody ignores Voyager two. Still out there, still working, passed the same barrier that Voyager one did. As I posted recently, Voyager two is the Rodney Dangerfield of space.

It looks like the new Paul McCartney album might be number one this week. Here's hoping Engelbert Humperdinck does not release a follow -up to Release Me. (bonus points for anyone who gets this reference.)
