Your #SLMPD officers interrupted a teen takeover. By intervening early, @SLMPD officers helped connect teens with their parents or guardians while helping ensure a safe and welcoming downtown for everyone.
Great work by your #SLMPD officers Saturday night as they proactively addressed a ‘teen takeover’ gathering in the Downtown and Downtown West areas. Officers and undercover detectives worked to disperse crowds, enforce curfew and trespassing laws, and connect juveniles with their parents or guardians. Around a dozen teens were detained and three were taken into custody for resisting arrest. The youngest was 13, who was involved in a fight. Parents were called to pick up their children. Many of the juveniles told officers they had been dropped off by parents or guardians earlier in the evening. In one case, a parent was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Keeping our community safe is a shared responsibility. We encourage parents and guardians to know where their children are and help ensure they make responsible choices. By intervening early, our officers helped connect teens with their parents or guardians while helping ensure a safe and welcoming downtown for everyone. #STL

The NBA needs to adopt this. The Paraguay player flopped and the ref reviewed it and gave him a yellow card. Soccer has it figured out 🤝

Another win for public safety. Today, a judge ruled that HB 495 complies with the Constitution. We will continue vigorously defending the St. Louis Police Board in court and fighting for the safety of Missouri communities. I am proud of our team who continue to secure results for Missourians.

Your SLMPD officers are Investing in Safety when it matters most. Last night, Mobile Reserve officers and Anti-Crime detectives responded to the area of 10th and Washington after observing a group of armed males looking into vehicles. After attempting to stop and confront the group, the males ran, but were too slow for our officers and detectives. Two adults and two juveniles were arrested and five firearms were recovered, two of which were reported stolen. One of the handguns was equipped with a full-auto conversion device. The two adults were taken to the Justice Center and booked. The two juveniles were taken to the juvenile building and held on their charges.

Around 1am, neighbors in the Tower Grove South neighborhood contacted 911 for a group of suspects that were seen checking multiple vehicle door handles — trying to break into cars. When officers arrived, the four suspects took off on foot. Officers were able to catch and detain a 17-year-old male and a 14-year-old male. The 17-year-old male was found in possession of a handgun. Officers contacted the juvenile detention center who declined to hold the juveniles and released them to their parents.

#SLMPD detectives are working with metro law enforcement partners regarding car break-ins that have occurred over the last month. Gathering real-time intelligence and analysis is crucial. Remember, if you see something suspicious, say something. Do not approach. Call 911. #STL

Around 8pm last night, detectives in Metro Air Support observed a Lincoln driving recklessly near 14th and Monroe and alerted other Anti-Crime Task Force detectives in the area. The vehicle was located in the 700 block of N. 17th Street, where detectives arrested two suspects and recovered multiple illegally modified firearms, including auto sear switches, converting the guns to fully automatic. A Ghost gun was also located and seized. #STL is safer today because of the proactive work of these detectives, which led to dangerous weapons being removed from the streets.

Seconds matter in an emergency. Today, the SLMPD is announcing plans to enhance regional public safety like never before with the Aerial Response Unit. Leveraging drone technology would improve 911 response times, align the SLMPD with other regional law enforcement agencies that are exploring or implementing drone technology, support search and rescue operations during a disaster, and give officers the real-time information they need during emergencies. The proposed purchase of six BRINC drones is powered by a partnership with the St. Louis Police Foundation and its donors.

Your District 3 officers are regularly investing in safety. Earlier this month, officers were conducting an investigation in Dutchtown relative to a man who fled from them days prior. Officers located the 28-year-old man, who resisted arrest and was tased. The 28-year-old, who is a convicted felon, was found in possession of suspected drugs, a scale and a handgun.

NAILED IT: Jeff Bezos: “A nurse in Queens who makes $75K a year pays more than $12K a year in taxes. Does that really make sense?” “So people talk about making the tax system more progressive. How about we start by having the nurse in Queens NOT pay taxes? At all!” “Why is a nurse in Queens who makes $75K a year paying more than $1K a month in taxes?” “That’s $1K a month that could help with rent or groceries or anything.” “And by the way, do you know what that all adds up to? The bottom half of income earners in this country pay only 3% of the taxes. It’s only 3%.” “We can find 3%. So we don’t have... it’s a small amount of money for the government. You know that. And the more I thought about it, to me, it’s kind of absurd that we’re doing this.” “We shouldn’t be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington — they should be sending her an apology. It really makes no sense.” Exactly!

Just before 11am, District 4 officers received calls for a suspicious person for a man swinging a pipe near Locust and Broadway. Within minutes, a Bike officer located the man at Broadway and Olive. Before the officer was able to get off their bike, the man threw a cup of coffee on the officer. The man then took off running north and additional officers responded to the area to assist. Responding officers then encountered the man again near Broadway and Lucas, where they observed him with a metal pole. Officers gave the man multiple commands to stop and drop the weapon, but he refused. Officers attempted to tase the man, but it had no effect. Officers again gave multiple commands for the man to stop and drop the weapon while giving chase. The man again refused, turned and ran toward the officer, and raised the pipe. The officer fired his firearm at the suspect, but the suspect turned and attempted to hide behind a car. The officers continued to give commands when the man suddenly pulled a large butcher knife and lunged toward officers. The officer again fired his firearm, ultimately stopping the threat. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died. No officers were seriously injured.

With the help of SWAT and North Patrol Division officers, numerous firearms and large quantities of ammunition were seized, as well as large amounts of suspected narcotics. Outstanding teamwork in getting these guns and drugs off the streets!

Your #SLMPD District 1 officers are Investing in Safety — by being proactive and vigilant. Earlier this week, while on patrol, Officers Dedakovic and Kopfensteiner observed a person matching the description of a suspect involved in a recent robbery. After spotting the officers, the suspect fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody by Officer Dedakovic following a foot pursuit. Officers recovered a firearm and a Louis Vuitton bag believed to have been taken during the robbery. The suspect, a 14-year-old boy, was taken into custody. Because of the efforts of these officers, St. Louis is safer today.
